Wanderlust - hace referencia a aquella persona a la que le entusiasma explorar, descubrir, aprender... Es un término compuesto que está formado por Wandern (en castellano, algo así como “caminar sin rumbo”) y Lust (“pasión”). Una palabra que suele describir mi manera de ser.

¡Buenas! Me llamo Juan David Carvajal, soy colombiano y actualmente me encuentro en Europa, más específico, en Alemania terminando mis estudios en Arquitectura... pero se preguntarán. ¿Qué hace un chico colombiano en Alemania? Tuve la oportunidad de crecer en un ambiente bicultural en Colombia y eso conllevó a enamorarme de la cultura alemana y percibirla como mi segundo hogar, como también el montón de diferentes culturas en un sitio como es Europa y la facilidad de conocerlas, me inspira a viajar e interactuar con los locales para luego estar listo y ver más allá, otros continentes, el otro lado del mundo.

El estudio también me facilito hacer un intercambio con el programa Erasmus en Valencia, España, donde he conocido gente de todas partes de Europa y donde me he acercado más a esta comunidad tan bonita que es Couchsurfing, que es tener el mundo en tu casa, en un bar o en un parque.

¿Cómo creció en mí estas ganas de viajar y conocer gente diferente a mí?
Para estas dos cosas hay un factor común que ha impregnado mi vida ayer, hoy y mañana... El escultismo, el ser Scout desde 2004 cuando tenía 8 años, comencé a ir a un grupo Scout y con el paso del tiempo, termino siendo mi familia, con ellos contemplé una de las más bellas formas de viajar... Acampando conoces a la gente de una manera inigualable, además que no se puede comparar con un hotel 5 estrellas, ya que el acampar tiene millones.

También pude ir a varios campamentos donde había gente de otros países y ahí fue donde me di cuenta, cuan grande es el movimiento Scout y lo maravilloso de saber que tienes un hermano al otro lado del mundo :)

Otro aspecto que me ha dejado el Escultismo es, intentar hacer voluntariados constantemente en donde esté viviendo, asi sean ir a eventos con gente mayor, limpiar un humedal, pintar una casita de un colegio o ayudar con un idioma a refugiados.

Soy una persona que le gusta escuchar a los otros, con sus experiencias más locas, o situaciones sin iguales, como también me gusta compartir las mías.
Soy una persona que no puede quedarse quieta, activa, aunque también hay veces que necesito mi tranquilidad.

Llegando el COVID, así me cueste admitirlo, pero me ha cambiado (y de pronto a todo el mundo), quizá siendo una persona más racional o tal vez sea también por las experiencias que he vivido, por la edad.
Siento que el vivir al otro lado del mundo de tu familia siendo tan joven te hace ver todo desde otra perspectiva y esa sensación de comerse el mundo, es adictiva.

Espero poder conocerlos ya sea yo viajero o ustedes y poder compartir muchas historias y comidas juntos, ya que el mundo también se conoce con sus sabores únicos.

Hello good! My name is Juan David Carvajal, I am Colombian and I am currently in Europe, more specifically, in Germany finishing my studies in Architecture ... but you may wonder. What is a Colombian boy doing in Germany? I had the opportunity to grow up in a bicultural environment in Colombia and that led me to fall in love with German culture and perceive it as my second home, as well as the many different cultures in a place like Europe and the ease of knowing them, inspires me to travel. and interact with the locals to then be ready and see beyond, other continents, the other side of the world.

The study also made it easier for me to do an exchange with the Erasmus program in Valencia, Spain, where I have met people from all over Europe and where I have gotten closer to this beautiful community that is Couchsurfing, which is having the world at home, in a bar or in a park.

How did this desire to travel and meet people different from me grow in me?
For these two things there is a common factor that has permeated my life yesterday, today and tomorrow ... Scouting, being a Scout since 2004 when I was 8 years old, I started going to a Scout group and as time went by, I ended up being My family, with them I contemplated one of the most beautiful ways of traveling ... Camping you get to know people in a unique way, and it cannot be compared to a 5-star hotel, since camping has millions.

I was also able to go to various camps where there were people from other countries and that's where I realized how great Scouting is and how wonderful it is to know that you have a brother on the other side of the world :)

Another aspect that Scouting has left me is trying to constantly volunteer wherever I live, whether it be going to events with older people, cleaning a wetland, painting a school house or helping refugees with a language.

I am a person who likes to listen to others, with their craziest experiences, or situations without equal, as well as I like to share mine.
I am a person who cannot stay still, active, although there are also times when I need my peace of mind.

When COVID arrives, it is hard for me to admit it, but it has changed me (and suddenly everyone), perhaps being a more rational person or perhaps it is also because of the experiences I have lived, because of my age.
I feel that living on the other side of the world from your family being so young makes you see everything from another perspective and that feeling of taking over the world is addictive.

I hope to be able to meet you, whether I am a traveler or you, and to be able to share many stories and meals together, since the world is also known with its unique flavors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

El poder conocer a gente de otros países, las personas son abiertas a compartir historias, el poder ir a una casa en otro país como invitado y sentir que estas en casa, conocer la cultura desde una perspectiva local, ver la sonrisa de cada persona que llega a tal momento en que uno olvida que hay fronteras, que hay nacionalidades y que todos somos iguales.

Being able to meet people from other countries, people are open to share stories, being able to go to a house in another country as a guest and feel that you are at home, know the culture from a local perspective, see the smile of each person who It reaches such a moment that one forgets that there are borders, that there are nationalities and that we are all the same.

Bueno, en cuanto a música soy muy versátil, según Spotify en su recuento anual de 2021, escuché 67 géneros nuevos, pero claramente aquí unos de los que suelo escuchar más a seguido.

De películas me encantan los futuros distópicos, entre ellas la que amo es El precio del mañana y su concepto, en que el dinero en sí es el tiempo de vida que tiene cada uno, que los ricos viven milenios, mientras que los pobres tienen que vivir día a día...

Hay un podcast en español que también sigue un concepto distópico, en que el mundo va decayendo a través de pandemias y pandemias. Se llama Caso 63, me encanta tanto que lo escuché más de una vez :)

En cuanto a libros, me gusta leer más de personas que viajan y cuentan de sus experiencias, y siento que cuando no estoy viajando, estoy conociendo otras partes del mundo a través de sus palabras. Un ejemplo de un escritor alemán que hace Couchsurfing en lugares como China, Irán o Arabia Saudita.

From movies I love dystopian futures, among them the one I love is In Time and its concept, in which money itself is the time of life that each one has, that the rich live millennia, while the poor have to live day to day...

There is a podcast in Spanish that also follows a dystopian concept, in which the world is declining through pandemics and pandemics. It's called Caso 63, I love it so much that I heard it more than once :)

As for books, I like to read more about people who travel and tell about their experiences, and I feel that when I am not traveling, I am getting to know other parts of the world through their words. An example of a German writer Couchsurfing in places like China, Iran or Saudi Arabia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

La locura de ya haber hecho dos tándems en paracaídas y el deseo de algún día hacer el curso AFF de paracaídas para ser uno de ellos :P

El viajar en Autostop es una experiencia de otro mundo, o diría mejor de otros mundos, ya que en cada coche se oyen historias y aventuras distintas, y ya haber hechos en distintas ocasiones en total 2000 km entre Alemania, Francia y Suiza y espero en el futuro sumar más kilómetros.

A bailar (aunque dicen que los de Bogotá no bailan jaja), aprender nuevos idiomas, a tener conversaciones más profundas, cocinar, comer, escuchar, decir, jugar juegos de mesa, reír, sonreír, llorar (ya que somos humanos), cantar (aunque suelo cantar en la ducha), tomar, beber, ir, llegar, conocer, descubrir...
