About Me

22. I am at a weird crossroads kinda situation these days. To put it simply, I am changing everything that effected my life so far, where I live, what I do, which people I meet... you might call it midlife crisis (alpha version v0.78)

Anyway, I know i am not so funny. But here's what it is. I am studying in IU. While it was very satisfying so far, I felt like postponing my ever dream of living aboard - at least for a while. So here I am. I am going to leave for America to see how is life there. Maybe stay, maybe leave for another country. Although it seems like a good idea at first, being a Turkish myself and knowing that our very own lira doesn't worth ...... , it is going to be a great financial challenge. But nonetheless an experience, good or bad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I first went to England Jan 2014, ALONE for 2 weeks, I figured something. You can't have fun alone - some people like to drink alone, I hate it. I was there after a breakup like thing and I spent 2 weeks in misery. Yes, London is a beautiful city which I loved but come on, it was always dark and raining. Qualities, as a melancholic man such as me, love. But yeah, i was sad regardless. I had fun the times I was people, but most of it I was alone - because my idiot -would be- friends decided not to come. All 5 of them. ARGH. So I tried meeting people in person and yeah, it didn't work. The ones that I met had to leave after a little while due to their own plans, but it was fun.

So hey, Internet should help now eh? so here I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I hate Today's music by all means. There are some good artists then and now, but 95 percent it is rubbish. I like many genres of rock, blues, sometimes heavier stuff. Sometimes Electronic (a la Jarre, a few classics from Kraftwerk and many others, things that I count Progressive rock alike) and of course the always beautiful Classical. My Favorite band is of course Pink Floyd. Unlike some idiots who claim to be die hard Floyd fans who don't know that Another Brick in the Wall has 2 more parts too and get bored after 5 mins of Shine on. etc etc. You can name many artists/bands like Jethro Tull, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, etc. There are many more to list too....

I like many classical cult movies and some relatively modern ones too, Things you have probably heard or watched. Same sadly I cannot claim for books. I am worse than Brian from the Family Guy. (that is a reference I choose purposely)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not amazing, but I remember getting shot by a plastic bullet by the cops while trying to help my friend who had asthma. They had tear gassed everywhere without a warning. We escaped somehow, thanks to a local business owner who let us in a short while later and lied to cops. That is not something amazing I've done, but someone did for me, and we were so lucky.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe I have a different perspective. I am Turkish, so I am accustomed to many things - but I am not all that Turkish... at least I think so? I'd like to think that I am much and MUCH more open minded than my countryman and woman (countrywoman - is that a word?)

So, you wanna argue something? Got anything you'd like to discuss? hit me! Well, not really hit me, but you know what I mean...

Countries I’ve Visited

England, France, Norway
