About Me

I'm a banjo player and songwriter, currently traveling in the southeastern US to continue learning about music, dance, and stories in Appalachian communities.

I love to meet new people, share stories, give music lessons or house concerts, and cook! Thanks for opening up your home to me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Movie: Harold and Maude
Music: ABBA to zydeco and back again

I'm currently reading the poetry of Emily Dickinson (my neighbor!), and Uncle Tom's Cabin. Also James Joyce's Ulysses 5 pages at a time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent four months living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, working for a peacebuilding org. and studying music

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always excited about exchanging songs: original, folk, pop; I collect songs from around the world.

I would love to speak French with you, or even Bosnian or Italian.

There's a lot of cooking going on my household-- I could teach you how to make dolma, how to wrap spring rolls, how to make ravioli.

I would love to learn anything you're proud of-- and anything about the place where you live (especially the music there.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I go everywhere with my banjo, and would be happy to give you a little concert (or lead a sing-along). If you have any creative projects you've been working on and are in need of a second eye/ear, I'd be happy to give some feedback.

Besides that, I make a mean chicken paprikash (I've been living in Bosnia), am happy to help around the house or in the garden, and can watch children. I also have several excellent poems committed to memory.
