Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in the northwestern part of Turkey, then I went to Virginia, USA as an exchange student for one year. After that wonderful gap year, I had to move to Istanbul for university, and stayed here afterwards. I graduated from English Translation and Interpreting department last year. However, I decided to follow a different area for work as it started to seem more fun and interesting to me. As soon as I graduated, I started working in Philips Lighting as a web content editor. As a regret, I haven't had a holiday and vacation before work - which I am trying to make it up now with my annual leaves. I love discovering new places and cultures, and meeting new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to make new friends from different cultures both in Istanbul and abroad.
I am going to be travelling alone most of the time, so I would really enjoy knowing someone from the local culture. As another honest reason, I would prefer to spend money on the local food/transportation etc. rather than hostels, hotels :).
I would be happy to host people in Istinye, Istanbul where I live - mostly on the weekends.

Music, Movies, and Books
I actually listen to many different types of music depending on my mood. For example, I prefer jazz before sleeping, pop while working and rock while doing cleaning :)
For books and movies, I prefer them to be close to the reality - like biogrophy or documentary..
I still watch all kinds of movies except fantastic ones.
As a note, I am a big fan of the shows Friends and Modern Family. :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to the States for one year when I was just 18 without knowing whom I was going to stay with, without not being fluent in English etc.
In the end, it turned out to be the best year of my life - and no worries I am fluent in English now :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I like teaching what I know and enjoy listening to people and learning new things - especially new food and culture.
I might provide you some tips to have a better time in Istanbul and can inform you on the cultural things that you wouldn't find out on the internet easily :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My home is quite comfortable, and I am only at home after 7pm and I go to bed early - during the weekdays. One can enjoy his/her time alone at home. I over respect the personal space and expect the same.
I am working during the weekdays, I can join the dinner for those days.
As for the weekends, I will be more available to show around after 11 am (I like sleeping at the weekends little bit:) )
