Über mich
Hello everyone, I'm Jesse from the UK...
This planet has had to put up with my existence for 18 years now; good or bad?
I've grown up in a small town called Westgate On- Sea, 70 miles from London! Despite Westgate being a lovely place to live, I NEED a BREAK... so this is where 'Couch Surfing' comes in!
My passion for travelling started when my family and I went on holiday to Agadir in Morocco, however, as I was only six we didn't do much exploring. But a year later, a group of us travelled to Czech Republic... this Is when I knew that the life of a nomad was for me... seeing awesome sites, tasting new food, meeting strangers, experiencing new culture!
So far my passport has taken me to 13 countries: France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy, The Vatican City, Tunisia, Morocco, the UAE, the USA and Spain... Croatia, Montenegro and Italy, again, in June.
For sure, every country has taught me lessons about people, myself and the cognitions of our world. For instance, when I was in New Orleans helping to rebuild homes destroyed by Katrina, I learnt that when humans come together great things can be achieved! There was a group of 11, me being the only guy, as I was the only person that went to a mixed Ursuline school, however despite the quarrels and the 90% humidity, we managed to complete the tiling, painting and floor boarding. I was tasked with tiling the utility room, the fact that the floor was uneven meant that on some days my partner and I only laid two tiles... I felt embarrassed. But when I got back to the dorms I realised that even though not much was achieved in the first day, we were MAKING a DIFFERNCE!
Other than loving to travel, I am really into photography. The prospect of having photos to back up memories is always a bonus. I'd say the most powerful photo that I have taken was in New Orleans when I was walking down the infamous Bourbon Street. Behind me was a white homeless guy with a dog called Rex, I think, then a young black tap dancer (with cans on his feet) put some money in the homeless guy's pot. The race relations in NOLA are still fragile ever since the Emancipation, so for a young lad that was struggling to get my himself to do that was awe inspiring...
I have a few academic qualifications under my belt, mainly GCSEs (a secondary school qualification), but i'm currently studying for Psychology, History and Politics A-levels (Advanced level). After my gap year in AUSTRALIA I plan to go to Uni, either to study Journalism or Law? I will decide in August when I get my results.
