Overview
About Me
Welcome to my quite centrally located Corydon Avenue area home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, a 15 minute bus ride or cycle to downtown. I have traveled broadly as a tourist, and worked as an educator in China for five years, Guyana as a Cuso International volunteer, and spent some time in Cuba. I raised my two sons, both avid cyclists and travelers, and proudly watched them graduate university in 2016. I operated a bed and breakfast business for 10 years while they grew up. I love to listen to people's travel stories, and share my own. I have the travel bug, and admitted to a friend that, once one starts to travel, it is really hard to stop. The world, its people and its places, are just so very fascinating.
Let me tell you about my home and what I can offer. The basement guest bedroom has an attached sitting area, and 2 piece bathroom (toiled and sink. It is a 54" wide thick mattress on the floor. (I have yet to get a proper frame for it.) You would have to share my main floor shower/bathtub. I have a skittish indoor only cat. I would love to offer you a basic breakfast, and an evening snack and information about bus or cycle routes and local tourist attractions, as well as a homey place of refuge and rest. Welcome to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Canada.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined couchsurfing because it seems a good way to get to know people while I am not traveling myself, to share my city and my country with you. to get to know a bit about who you are, where you have been, and where you are going, and what you have learned along the way. I look forward to doing the same.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I learned to ride a Harley at 53, alpine skiing at 30, returned to China, alone, to teach, at 59, climbed 10,000 steps at Huang Shan so that I could look down in amazement, sharing the moment with my sons, cycled Hiroshima to Osaka at 62, going cycling to Germany this year, one week solo, one week with sons. I have been told I am an adventurer.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a strategy for learning language, help you with bus or cycle routes, and tell you about local attractions. I can share stories and food, and hope to learn about your travels and experiences. I can offer an extra pair of hands for a task you need to do, or motivation to get it done.
