Hey there guys! I am Noemi from South Tyrol, a region in the north of Italy. My region has been thrown like a ball from one state to the other during history and that is why we ended up being a region in Italy, where the majority speaks German and a minority speaks Ladin. I am part of the Ladin minority and we are around 30.000 people speaking this ancient language and preserving its traditions. I am often being asked if I feel “Italian”, “German” or “Austrian” and every time anew I am surprised about this question and ask myself what sort of feeling this is ought to be. I believe that I can be “Spanish” for instance, when I am in Spain, get to know their lifestyle and culture and try to speak their language. What I am trying to be all the time is being open to all cultures, traditions and people from all over the world as this allows me a wider insight into the world and myself. Therefore, I can see myself as an open-minded person, sociable, communicative, very active and interested. I love doing all kinds of sports, singing, playing the piano and the guitar, doing photography and painting. I love reading and writing and am open to any new hobby-inspiration which I can get in touch with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing, because I truly love travelling and getting to know new people, having insightful and deep conversations and sharing moments. I love sharing languages, interests, lifestyles. I have been travelling to a few places already and often stayed in hotels. My first Couchsurfing experience gave me a new perspective of travelling, making it even more intense and interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love many types of music and I can easily dive into new genres and artists. Right now I very much enjoy listening to Soul and Jazz, but also Country Music (Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones, Aretha Franklin, George Benson). Otherwise I also don’t mind some raggy, rock and pop.
I like action movies, romantic movies and many other types (P.S. I love you or Into the Wild). Horror movies are not really my type.
On one hand I very much enjoy reading philosophical books, classics like The Picture of Dorian Gray, but also fantasy books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the opportunity to attend a Krishnamurti School in England (Brockwood Park School) for one year. There we were living in a small community with people from all over the world learning from the world, each other and getting to know ourselves. It was a very interesting and new experience for me and I opened up to a new approach to education and new lifestyles. I started doing meditation and yoga and got to know amazing people.

I love to study languages, have philosophical conversations, doing photography and learning about new things. I am happy to share my interests and ambitions and acquire new knowledge and insights into other things.
