Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am interested in learning more about cultures, language and experiencing new things.

Interests

I'm described as a person with profound interest in how things work and why. I always love to learn something new and once I really get into it, I might even come across as zealous.

  • photography
  • video games
  • fishing
  • hiking
  • meeting new people
  • wild camping

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to various genres of music, but especially enjoy relaxing and/or uplifting tunes to complement my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lied down on the snowy ground in a pitch black night on the top of a mountain to gaze at the ever so beautifully dancing Northern Lights.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can offer you insights into your own body, how it works in movement and why it hurts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a welcoming atmosphere in a calm Finnish environment. We live 10 minutes from the city centre in an area that is well-suited for enjoying relaxed walks. If you'd like to participate in some activities, I can take you with me and show you around.

Summer: You can live through a nightless night. In the midsummer (May-June) the sun doesn't go down at all in the North. There is light a plenty. Backpacking in the forests is a relaxing experience (although there are plenty of bugs in the summer). In Finland we have a freedom to roam which means you can move about the forests freely by foot and setup a temporary camp. Very early summer is the ideal time for fishing.

Autumn: Northern Lights. Backpacking in the forests is a relaxing experience (there are close to none bugs in autumn). Freedom to roam is everybody's right. The length of the day keeps on getting shorter and the nights get really dark. It's the best time to see Northern Lights and for stargazing. The nights are cold and can dip below freezing but there is no snow yet.

Winter: Snowy-madness, Northern Lights. There is snow everywhere, up to waist deep in the North. Snow sports; downhill skiing, snowboarding, skating, cross-country skiing, sleigh riding, snowmobiles... The temperature can go down to -35 Celsius, which means that the weather forecast is your new best topic to talk about. Winter is a dark time as the sun sets very early in the Northern parts; opposite of summer, there are dayless days. Great opportunities for catching the Northern Lights and stargazing.
