About Me
Hi everyone !
I’m Olivier, 22 years old Human Rights student from France.
After a year of exchange in Oslo, I discovered a new passion for travelling. Sociable and curious, I love to visit new areas and what can be best than discovering them with locals. Anyway, I love to meet new people.
I'm seriously interested about loads of stuff like books, movies, music and science so i'm sure we would find a subject we can agree on. Probably that you'll come up with something that'll stay in a corner in my head and I'll probably find later some informations about it just by curiosity.
I grew up in the south of France, in Tarbes, near Toulouse, and finally decided to do my first year of law in Pau. I then really wanted to move and see new things so I studied respectively, in Bordeaux (France) and Oslo (Norway) and Paris.
Despite my incredible curiosity and social skills, I am autonomous and fully understand that people need sometimes time on their own and I totally respect that. If I'll probably ask you lots of questions about you, your city, culture or experiences, I know when I have to shut my mouth, and I love travelling alone anyways :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This year is a sort of year of break in my studies: I'm studying really interesting things in Olso (Human rights) but I also want to travel as much as possible to discover new countries, culture, people, place and to have new experiences. Of course, as a student, the cheaper the better for my adventures.
But the major reason for why I’m on CS it’s because it’s way funnier to meet some people from the city you want to visit to improve the experience there. And it's always fascinating to speak to new people, with different age, life, country to share different points of view, ways of life and things we appreciate !
I can also host in Oslo, because I’m living in a student village with a single room. It might better be for you to visit this city with some advice for the must see and I will introduce you to the sweet Erasmus everyday-life in Norway !
Music, Movies, and Books
Books : Romain Gary La promesse de l'aube, La vie devant soi ;1964, George Orwell ; Les Mouches, Huis Clos - Jean-Paul Sartre ; L'étranger - Albert Camus ; Lot of books by Les Lumières ; I love a lot of poets like Arthur Rimbaud, Victor Hugo, Baudelaire, Verlaine, Paul Eluard but not only french (If by Rudyard Kipling).
Music : I listen so much differents styles of music it's really hard to synthetise. Let's say Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Rolling Stones, Ibrahim Maalouf, Jeff Buckley, Eminem, IAM, Bob Marley, some classical, etc etc etc.
Movies : Forrest Gump, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Fight Club, 12 Angry Men, American Beauty, The Dictator (Chaplin's one), Life is Beautiful, Truman Show, Her, Annie Hall, Moonrise Kingdom, Will Hunting, Leon, Interstellar, Taxi Driver, Up, Lion King and some others. And yes, if you wonder, I'have never seen any Star wars or Lord of the Rings, but I'm trying to fix it !
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year, I spent a week in Lapland during which I jumped into a frozen lake under northern lights.
I then went to Tromso which is also quite up, and I've been invited on a fishing boat by a fisher I just randomly met the day before. Despite sea sickness, it was a hell of a fun.
