About Me

'Well, I am going back into the open air, to see what the wind and sky are doing!'
- J. R. R. Tolkien

I'm a biology student who rather spends her time doing field work between the plants than following theoretical courses.
I'm a calm, open and easy-going person. One of my current goals in life is to determine how long my hair can grow (every person's hair has its maximum length). It is already past my butt.
I try to live a simple, peaceful life. This also means I value time for myself and I ask you to respect that, both in my choice to let you stay or not as when you are couchsurfing at my place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love it that people share their home with like-minded people and the openness that goes with it. It shows that there are still good people and that we are on our way to a better world! I'd like to do my part in that.
Besides that, I like to meet new people and hear their stories and adventures. I could listen to them for hours.
Hosting people is also a nice opportunity for me to explore the area I live in. ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite movies:
All classic Disney cartoons. Into the Wild. The Secret Garden. Dare To Be Wild. Despicable Me 1 to 3 & the Minions. Ice Age (all of them). Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Across The Universe. Moulin Rouge. Chocolat. Flashdance. And of coure nature documentaries, with or without David Attenborough.
And much more.

Series:
Doctor Who. Star Trek: Voyager. Firefly. The 100. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Once Upon a Time. The Big Bang Theory.

Music:
Always eager to hear new music, especially live like on the streets or in someone's living room.
I like most music. My favorites change over the years but I still like everything I've ever listened to: 60's, 70's, 80's, classic rock, rock 'n roll, some metal, some rock, blues, jazz, (electro)swing, salsa and other danceable music, world music, folk, shoegazing, post-rock, synth, wave, psy(trance), psybient, goa, ambient, chill out, experimental music, reggae, much more and a lot of music I don't even know the genres of.
Currently I mainly listen to (modern) classical/contemporary/piano pieces.

Books:
Some Dutch literature including Toon Tellegen, Winnie the Pooh, Into The Wild, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books, The Hitchhicker's Guide To The Galaxy, all sorts of English fantasy novels.
I like reading a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The day I felt the scariest but also the most alive, was when hiking in the Swiss Alps after forgetting I was afraid of heights... The trip included getting through a snow bed and not sliding down the slope to be crumbled on the rocks and end up in pieces in the valley below (see photos section). Oh, and at some point rocks were falling down from above us. It sure was a great day.

Another great thing that I've done is living and working in a community/ecocamping in France (ECOlonie) for nearly 2 months (summer 2017).

One of the best things in my life has been the discovery of the dance form biodanza. It has transformed me into my true self and still continues to let me explore who I am.

Teach, Learn, Share

Nature, (analog) photography, vegan/gluten free cooking/baking, Dutch language, talks about life and the universe and everything else.

I love music so if you make music, I'll adore you playing and you're never allowed to stop. ;) I have experienced that music makes people more comfortable around each other, it breaks the ice and is a good time together.
I have a guitar, a sansula kalimba, a pan flute and a very tiny keyboard in my house.

If you're experienced with organic farming, permaculture, food forests and self-sufficient living, and don't mind teaching me all about it, you are very, very welcome in my home. For I have a dream to one day make a(n edible) garden of my own.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My interest in you and your stories, my open personality, my views on topics, singing along with music, stories of my adventures, cooking/baking, and if you want to learn something about plants/nature I'm the right person.

With me you can have conversations about important things, life, struggles, dreams, morals, religion, philosophy, crazy hypothetical situations, and much more. We could go for a hike through nature. Or just spend a lazy evening on the couch watching movies or listening to music.
