I'm new to couch surfing but I really like the idea of staying with someone who knows a particular area and is willing to tell or show you places you wouldn't know about as a typical backpacker. I will definitely become a host when I return to Edinburgh, Scotland as I'd love to be able to show people my city!

Lived in the jungle in Honduras studying snakes and frogs for 8 weeks! It was tough but an amazing experience.
