Hi everyone! My name is Thaïs and I'm 18 years old.
Together with my boyfriend Pepe, I'm traveling by bike for one year. We started cycling in Ghent and are going all the way to Lisbon, where we take the plane to Brasil. (We also made a small stop in Marrakech!) and then we cycle back home.
During this trip I want to see as much of the nature and culture of the world and want to meet as much nice people as possible!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think, probably just as everybody else on CS, meeting new people is the best part of travelling.
I love listening to other people's travel stories and getting to know them, so I'm really looking foreward to meeting you :)

My and my boyfriend already had some awesome CS-experiences (all references are on his profile, his name is Pepe Lammertijn, if you want to read them) and we would like to add a lot more!

When I'm done travelling and I'm back home, I want to host a lot of people, so they can have the same lovely experiences as I had! I really want to give something back, because that's what makes this place so beatiful :)

Interests

I'm intrested in pretty much everything. I love history, art, nature, cooking, travelling, design, animals, children, gaming, drawing, gardening, and so on.
We could walk around the city, game (i love indie games!), talk about whatever interests you or do nothing at all. Whatever you're up to!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading and listening to music, but I don't really have a favorite writer or artist.

I do love classical music (Chopin, Beethoven, Satie,...) and all kinds of modern music (Stromae, Alt J, ...) and ofcourse all the clasics! (Michael Jackson, Nirvana, ABBA,...)
And above all, I like making music! I play the violin and love singing.

I'm afraid my book-list is so long, I will never finish it ;) A few books I really liked are Before I go to sleep, Gone Girl, the book thief,... I especialy love psycological thrillers.

I watched breaking bad, Legend of Korra and now I'm watching Game of Thrones.
Furthermore I want to see a lot of documentaries, because I think it's an awesome way to learn new things. (planet earth is beautiful!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Deciding not to go to university directly after secondary school and taking one year to travel and enjoy the world.

+ during my travels I found an abandoned kitten. I took it with me in my handle bar bag and gave it a warm home in Belgium! <3

Teach, Learn, Share

I played the violin for 12 years and sang in a choir for a while. I love making music together and learning new instruments! I would like to learn how to play guitar/ukelele, piano and harp, but actualy all instruments are magical :)
I can introduce you to some cool belgian artists, too.

I've been cycling for three months now, so I already have some experience, I guess ;) I can give you some tips!
I would also like to do learn kitesurfing, because I did it a few times and it was awesome!

I studied Latin and mathematics in secundary school, so I can help you with translating Ovidius, Plato and Socrates if you want ;)

And I love to be creative! I'm not an artist of any kind, so I probably won't be able to teach you anything, but maybe you can teach me something, or we can try something new togher :) I would like to learn macramé, pottery, painting, grafitti, ...

Although I don't know a lot about it, I'm really interested in history and art. And nature. And antropology. And animals. Everything!

There is so much more to learn for me, so teach me whatever you want! :)

PS: I want to learn Portuguese, please help me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A lot of travel stories, enthousiasm and a love for learning new things (as you can read in my 'teach, learn, share ;) )
I love talking about a lot of different things, but I'm also a good listener :)

I would love to help you wherever and whenever possible, because doing everyday things like cooking or doing the dishes is way more fun together than alone :)

I like making new friends and getting to know my guest and hosts, but when someone is busy or doesn't have a lot of time, that's ok for me too. I'm pretty flexible and I just want everybody to be happy :)
