About Me
Hello there! I'm an artist and writer. I've settled down for a bit in Oakland for the time being while I get my bachelor's degree. I miss travelling so much but I figured I can open my home up to fellow travelers and live vicariously through them. I've couch surfed quite a bit in other countries so now I am returning the favor. Send me a message! I can show you around and make you vegan treats and we can create art and trade stories and all that jazz.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This program is so much more personal than a hostel or hotel. I feel it's more important to go to a foreign place and meet people and learn about them rather than just seeing the sites on a surface level. I don't just want to devour a new place, I want to thoroughly savor it. I want to explore every nook and cranny, every alley, and backstreet. I want to talk with as many people as possible. When I leave, I don't want a place to be something I just saw briefly. I want it to be a part of my heart and soul.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music; Beach House, Joanna Newsom, Bjork, St. Vincent, FKA Twigs, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Erik Satie, Damon Albarn, Erykah Badu, Nina Simone, Dorothy Ashby, Little People, Alice Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Mulatu Astatke. I like every type of music and sound in general. I'll dance to the sound of cars going by or the wind.
Movies; Amelie, 2001 Space Odyssey, Mood Indigo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Fifth Element, the Grand Budapest Hotel, Kill Bill.
Books; The Handmaid's Tale, Middlesex, 100 Years of Solitude, The Goldfinch, Song of Solomon, Slaughterhouse 5, White Oleander, Inkheart, The Secret History, Diary of Ann Frank, 1Q84. I've read too many books and it's too difficult to sort them out. I love stories that show you how connected everything truly is, stories that make your heart soar.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Wow, there's so many things that I've done but I don't know if I could put the label "amazing" onto any of them to be perfectly honest. Maybe hitchhiking around Iceland for a month? That was a pretty spectacular experience and it still feels like a dream rather than something I actually did.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not sure if I can teach anyone something with an actual name. You learn something from everyone you encounter so in more abstract terms that's how I teach. In the future I'll will be able to teach people concrete things but right now my job is to learn. I want to learn everything I can. Anything you feel inclined to tell or show me, I am here. And share, we'll share with each our experiences and stories of course.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my smile and positive energy. I can help clean your place and I can cook albeit not very well. If you'd let me, I'd love to draw or paint you. We can share stories and laughs. I don't know, I'd feel honored to be hosted by whoever is reading this. Thank you so much for opening your home.
