My name is Tom and I'm from Newport Beach, CA. I studied Civil Engineering at University of California, Irvine. I worked for four years after receiving my degree in 2012. I quit my job to travel and experience the world. My estimated time away from the USA is 1 year and I started on September 1, 2016.

I'm on couch surfing to meet people who are from the places I visit to show me around in a local fashion. I would like to see more of places than just what is on TripAdvisor and what not. I would love to meet life long friends on this trip that I can show around California (or the US in general) when I return home. Thus far on my trip, I've learned that the people you meet are more important than necessarily where you are or what you're seeing. So, as a solo traveler, I look forward to meeting new people in new places!
