Overview
About Me
Hi there! My name is Mar, and I come from Spain. My home town is Cáceres (Extremadura), but I study in Salamanca, a city I am sure all of you have heard of. I am studying Translation and Interpreting, but this year I am staying in Heidelberg (Germany) as an Erasmus student to learn German. This is such a great opportunity for me not only to learn a new language, but also to travel around Europe. For me, travelling is just another way of life. And not only travelling, but also art. The world wouldn't be anything without art.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My mindset has completely changed since I am on Couchsurfing. Though I am rather a new member, I have already couchsurfed four times, but it has been enough to realize how rewarding it is to meet people from all around the world. It is with no doubt the best way to learn different cultures and ways of life. There is nothing better than people from different countries coming over to your house and hanging out while having a nice cup of coffee and talking about whatever. For me, that is one of the most enriching ways to become an open-minded person and to see the world from an absolutely different perspective. To be precise, from the pespective of all the people I meet.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am completely into 70s, 80s and 90s music. Queen, Sting, Crowded House, ABBA, Alphaville, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, Bruce Springsteen... That's without any doubt the best kind of music ever. I am keen on mystery, science fiction and animated films. I am an unconditional fan of Tim Burton and all his films.
Reading is one of my favourite hobbies. Not only have I a huge bookcase in my house in Spain, but also in my bedroom in Germany. I like reading almost all kinds of genres, but I am more into mystery and science fiction books. Conan Doyle, Allan Poe, Patrick Rothfuss and Dan Brown are my favourite writers.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Meeting Coldplay by pure chance in London and visiting Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam!
Teach, Learn, Share
As a Spanish citizen, I will make sure you learn how to prepare a proper Spanish omelet, one of the most DELICIOUS food ever. If you are into cooking, I will teach you more Spanish recipes too. Something I always like doing is to have a cup of coffee or a pint of beer while talking about whatever. And I am sorry if I am too talkative, but I really like learning things regarding anything. Moreover, if I have free time, I will do kind of a tour around Heidelberg and show you the most interesting places here!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Practicing the languages you speak is one of the advantages of meeting people from different countries, of course. So I think it would be pretty cool to do tandems in the two languages I am fluent in: Spanish and English! I can also share Spanish culture such as cuisine, history or whatever you would like to know.
