Couchsurfing is an amazing way to travel , you get to go new places plus staying with someone who knows the area and will probably have some tips . I believe that is also a way to learn new things and share my own experiences
And being honest I’ve been traveling as an Au Pair and that leaves me on a short budget, couchsurfing makes it easier haha
