About Me
Hello to you all!
I’m Maya, a 24 year old girl from Germany, who was born and raised in Spain. I love to travel, try out new things and meet new, different people from all over the world, listen to their stories and experiences. My friends would describe me as a social butterfly, always happy and outgoing. I am a very empathic and grateful person, who values even the smallest things. I enjoy all kinds of different activities. My favourite sports include horse-riding, running, skiing, hiking, swimming, dancing... I also love to meet my friends, go for long coffee walks, or to be surprised by spontaneous happenings. I’m always up for good conversations, a good laugh and food!
I just finished my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology where I have been focusing on neuroscience. I worked within the field of Brain-Computer-Interfacing over the last year, a really interesting technology that connects the brain to machines. As much as I loved working in this field, I don’t see myself ready yet to settle down, which made me quit everything. I am on my way to do a ski season in Canada with my boyfriend before I’m starting a new Bachelor’s degree in design with a focus on product design. You see, I’m an open minded, active and particularly positive person with a lot of interests who always tried to make the best out of every situation in life.
My positivity and eagerness to explore the world are probably the result of my fun-loving family, who never run out of ideas of what to do next. When I was younger, we moved back and forth between Germany and Spain, and so I was surrounded by an international environment from an early age. During my university degree, I studied a year abroad in lovely England, where I met my boyfriend. Since then, I have spent a lot of time in England, to the point that it would almost call it my third home.
I can't wait to make more memories and experiences and hopefully meet you too! :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
...because travelling should be accessible to all, and couchsurfing is not only a way to travel to countries you don't have the financial means for, but also to meet the most interesting people. My family has hosted a number of couchsurfers and we have always been thrilled. At the moment, I'm a "poor student" relying on low-budget accommodation myself, to be able to travel as much as possible, which I will give back whenever I can.
