I used to be grad student at VUW in Wellington and now working as a tutor/teacher. When I got offered a job to run an online course here at Vic I finally found the opportunity to travel around NZ whilst working part time. So I gave up my flat, sold all my belongings except for what fitted in my backpack and left for the south island. After spending a year travelling around the south island by bus and hitchhiking (I don't have a car), I decided to get a pushbike and explore the Coromandel and the Ureweras. I only just started biking a week ago and it's been pretty hard, but I figured it will get easier with practice (I hope!!).

I have read a lot of travelling books and a lot of people like me who are on a budget swear by it, so I figured I'd give it a go :)
