About Me

Hello,

I am a French student living and studying in Aberdeen, in Scotland (UK). Right now, I am on an Erasmus year in the city of Turku, in Finland, until the end of June 2018.

In Turku, I am living in a student accommodation so I would not be able to welcome visitors. However, I would be glad to hang out and meet new people!

I am a French student living and studying in Aberdeen, in the UK (Scotland). My home is in France, in a little town called Bussy-Saint-Georges, 30 minutes away from Paris with the subway. For the moment, as I am living in a scottish student accomodation, I cannot host visitors, but I would be glad to welcome you over the summer in my family house in France.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the concept. For me traveling is about meeting people and discovering places, not staying in a hotel. If I travel, I want to have a real feeling of a country and its people. This is something you can't get if you stay in an hotel. And I also like this idea of trust and generosity. Instead of fearing the stranger, we welcome him into our home and share our bread with him.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movie is "A Fiddler on the roof", the history of a jew family living in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. The story is told through the voice of Tevye, a milkman with five daughters, a very funny and caring man. The story is in no way dramatic. It is often funny, but very heartwarming at the same time. The music and the songs (because it's a musical) are beautiful and so touching.

My favorite book is "A tree grows in Brooklyn", a coming-of-age story of Francie, a little girl growing up in the poor suburbs of Brooklyn with her family. at the beginning of the 20th century. What I love most about this book is that I feel like it captures beautifully and very truly all the feelings in human life. I cannot really explain, but I know that when I was reading it, I really lived in the book. During the day, I thought only about this book and all I wanted to go back reading it. And now, it has become my comfort read: when I feel like cuddling on a cold day with a blanket on the couch with a book, it is often this one that I choose.

I am also a huge Harry Potter fan. I have read every book at least 15 times and I never get tired of it. These books represent my childhood and are a sort of home for me.

For music, I am really open-minded. I love loads of music from different styles. I like jazz (Roy Hargrove, Trombone Shorty), classical music (Debussy, Chopin, Beethoven, Strauss), Celtic music, rocks (Patty Smith, Beatles, Joan Baez, The turtles...), Bollywood music... I love the band Beirut and "Of monsters and men". Recently, very good friends of mine have introduced me to techno music with groups such as L'impératrice, La Petite Fumée, L'entourloop, Chinese man.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Organizing a trip to Lapland with my Erasmus friends. It was only for three days but it was a trip packed with emotions. From the wonders of seeing the Northern lights standing on the frozen lake to the fear of driving at night in what seems a snowstorm to us. Also, I cannot forget the incredible warm feeling of our group of friends being wrapped up in a blanket next to the fireplace, in a small cottage far away from everything.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to share my culture and your culture. I want to hear your stories, your opinions. I really think that we can learn so much from other people, and my (short, I admit) experience has taught me that people have often so much to tell, such amazing stories, than what seems in the first place.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First, travel is incredibly tiring. If you come to my home, you can relax, take a shower and of course, I will share my food with you. I may not live in a palace, but I will always make sure you can have a mattress and warm blankets to sleep. Then, I wish we can share conversation, jokes, laughs and many stories!
