About Me

(SPOILER: I'm not an emu, check my other pics)
Hey! I'm a Belgian guy currently on a trip around the world, a bit of an introvert and huge thinker sometimes but I'm getting better with that and can also be very outgoing and good talker, I have a positive personality. I want to explore the world and its people and I'm always ready to try new things, even the craziest ones, I fear routine more than everything.. People say I'm too emotional.
What else about me.. I like to play and listen to music, I suck at cooking the only thing I can cook is pasta and sushi :| I like animals, children usually like me, I'm a nature, history and philosophy lover and also I'm always in for a drink and party nights :D
My intro used to be much longer but I found it's better to get to know each other :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first traveled alone in 2015 when I was 18, just after high school I wasn't sure at all what I wanted to do in life, so I left for two months and went volunteering in Iceland, and it might sound cliche, but it changed my life.. I met amazing people there and found a passion with traveling, I also fell in love with a girl who lived in Australia and went to see her. I thought traveling would help me choosing what I wanted to do, and it had the opposite effect, as it changed my vision about everything... :)

Some months later I started studying languages in Brussels, but I quickly lost myself... That's why I decided to travel thinking it was the right thing to do while I wasn't sure about my plans, and I decided to go all the way to Australia which I did (traveling halfway by land). I went on couchsurfing because I wanted to meet people along the way and see how was life elsewhere. There were days where I didnt know where I was gonna sleep at night, nor where I was gonna be the next days.. Now my journey continues and I'm heading towards Seattle, slowly back home :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kind of music, maybe Celtic music is my favorite style, music is for me the best way to escape reality or to make it more intense, one song I love is "Mad World" by Gary Jules or Jasmine Thompson, but also "hey there Delilah - Plain White Ts", "Society - Eddie Vedder", "Closing Time - Semisonic" .. I play guitar and clarinet and I'm currently learning how to play the tin whistle, I'd like to start playing in a band when I come back, and maybe saxophone.
A small list of some of the artists that I like (not in order of preference): R.E.M., Joy Division, Jaques Brel, Indochine, David Bowie, Jasmine Thompson, Editors, John Lennon, Eddie Vedder, Pink Floyd, Lorde, Passenger, The Clash, Arctic Monkeys, Green Day, Yiruma, Renaud (french singer), System of a down, Bad Religion, Muse, The Pogues, Radiohead, Tim Minchin, Bob Dylan, Suede, Nirvana, The Cranberries, Girls In Hawaii, IAMX, Alestorm, Oasis, AaRon....

I love the Lord of The Rings trilogy, and other movies like for example: Agora, Inception, all the movies from Hayao Miyazaki, Captain Fantastic, Interstellar, Tracks, Into the wild, The secret life of Walter Mitty, Eien No Zero, Die Welle, Enemy at the gates... For some I can remember, but I love watching movies and it's rare that I find a movie that I really don't like, and I like all genres. Every movie is interesting in a way.

I used to read a lot of books but sadly I find it hard to get into it again, hopefully traveling will help me to get into reading again. I like those books where you can learn every little details about the narrator's life, it makes you feel like you are living as someone else for a bit.. I also like adventure books, anticipation books (like 1984) and a bit of everything :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Iceland

Teach, Learn, Share

Some time and experiences, I can teach basic French to whoever wants to (or more it only depends on you) , and would love to learn any language (especially German and Japanese). I can also share a lot of travel stories and I can teach some guitar too.. Right now I'd like to learn how to cook well and would be very thankful to whoever helps me :) I'm not one of the few people who think couchsurfing is about free accommodation, when I go somewhere it is first to meet you and I am very respectful and thankful to sleep in someone else's home. When I come back I want to become a host myself.
