Meu nome é Verônica, tenho 20 anos e amo viajar. Sou estudante de Serviço Social na UFRJ e trabalho como professora particular nas horas pagas. Já nas horas vagas, curto sair pra um barzinho, de repente uma festinha também (mas confesso que sou mais adepta daquela boa conversa em mesa de bar com a cerveja estalando) e amo atividades ao ar livre! Mas, se estou em casa à toa, Netflix é a pedida mais certeira. Tento cada vez mais me desligar do mundo virtual e viver mais a realidade... estar com amigos, conversando, rindo, se divertindo é sempre melhor opção do que vendo o feed no Instagram. Sem sombra de dúvida posso afirmar que o que mais gosto de fazer é viajar: conhecer gente nova, comida diferente, música, língua, estilo, enfim, culturas diferentes! É sempre uma experiência incrível difícil de ser descrita em palavras, mas abre muito a mente e expande os horizontes e essa é uma sensação que não troco por nenhuma outra!

My name is Veronica, I'm 20 and I love to travel. I'm a college student at UFRJ where I study Social Services and I also work as a tutor on my billable hours. On my spare time, I enjoy going to a pub, maybe a little party too (but I must confess i'm more inclined to a good conversation over a beer so cold it almost freezes your brain) and I love open air activities! On the other hand, if I'm home with nothing to do, Netflix is the way to go. I'm trying every day to disconnect from social media and focus on living the reality... being with friends, talking, laughing, having fun is always a better option than checking your Instagram. Without any doubt, I can for sure say that what I like to do the most is travelling: getting to know new people, different food, music, language, style, anyway, different cultures! It's always an amazing experience hard to describe in words, but it opens up your mind and expand your horizons and that's a feeling I wouldn't trade for the world.

O principal motivo de eu estar no Couchsurfing é pra conhecer pessoas do mundo todo sem ter que ir lá. Porque, como toda boa universitária, não tenho dinheiro pra isso: ir a todos os lugares. Então pensei que poderia ajudar outras pessoas com um lugar pra ficar e poderia ser incrível... e é! Poder ajudar a viagem das outras pessoas ser ainda melhor é sempre incrível e ainda posso conhecer muito sobre outros países, cidades, culturas! E também, quando eu tô do outro lado, é sempre legal levar um pouco do Rio ou do Brasil pra casa das outras pessoas, conversar sobre nossas diferenças e perceber o quanto de coisa tem lá fora que a gente não tem nem ideia! Essa sensação é o motivo de eu fazer isto.

The main reason I'm on Couchsurfing is to get to know people from all over the world without having to actually be there. Because, as a good college grad, I ain't got money to do that: be everywhere. So I figured I could help people out with a place to stay and it could be amazing... and it is! Getting to help people's trips being even more awesome is always amazing and I also get to know a lot about other countries, cities, cultures! And also, when I'm on the other side of it, it's always fun to bring a little of Rio de Janeiro or Brazil to other people's homes, talk about our differences and realize how much there is out there that we don't even know! That feeling is why I do this.

Basicamente, sou péssima pra escolher meu favorito qualquer coisa! Eu sempre tenho pelo menos 5 coisas no meu Top1. Quando se trata de música, eu preciso dizer que sou apaixonada pela Música Popular Brasileira (MPB), e isso é basicamente música brasileira dos anos 70, 80 e 90; tem também muita gente nova boa no ramo, mas na maioria é música brasileira antiga, a muito famosa Bossa Nova. Se estamos falando de livros, aí é fácil: Harry Potter, num piscar de olhos; não que que não goste dos clássicos O Sol É Para Todos ou O Sol Também Se Levanta, mas meu coração infantil não consegue superar a obra de arte da J.K. Rowling; e só pra provar o quão infantil sou quando se trata disso, num empate com Harry Potter quando se trata de livro favorito, está O Pequeno Príncipe, eu só não consigo superar o quão incrível esse livro é e como ele é diferente cada vez que você lê, e eu leio esse livro desde que eu tinha 10 anos. Mas agora, sobre filmes... eu simplesmente amo um bom drama, independente da história: se o personagem principal morre, ou se o seu cônjuge morre, se a mãe ou pai morre, se o casal não fica junto, ou se um cachorro morre, se conta a história dos piores horrores da humanidade (holocausto, escravidão etc)... eu vou chorar, muito, no fim, e eu amo isso, eu amo a emoção, amo senti isso, mesmo que seja triste.

Basically, I'm shitty in picking favorites anything! I always have at least 5 items in my Top1. When it comes to music, I have to say I'm passionate about Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), and that's basically brazilian music from the 70s, 80s and 90s; there's also a lot of good new people in the business, but mostly old brazilian music, the very famous Bossa Nova. If we're talking about books, then it's easy: Harry Potter, in a heartbeat; not that I don't like the super classy books To Kill a Mockingbird or The Sun Also Rises, but my childish heart just can't get over J.K. Rowling's masterpiece; and just to prove how childish I am when it comes to this, in tie with Harry Potter on the subject favorite book, there's The Little Prince, I just can't get over how amazing this book is, and how different it is each time you read it, and I've been reading it since i was 10. But now, on movies... I just love a good drama, regardless of the story: if the main character dies, if it's spouse dies, if it's mom or dad dies, if the couple doesn't stay together, or if a dog dies, if it tells the story of humanity worst horrors (holocaust, slavery etc)... I'm gonna be crying, a lot, at the end, and I just love that, I love the emotion, I love to feel it, even if it's sad.
