About Me

I am a friendly guy who's interested in meeting new people and learning about other countries' culture.

I am an English teacher. I am also fully vaccinated against COVID 19.

In 2017 I got the opportunity to travel to Finland to study there for five months, that was the best time of my life. I met incredible people from all around the world and my perspective of life changed a lot. It was also a bit hard to adapt since I'm from the south of Mexico, so cold weather is not something that I had experienced very often.

This experience also allowed me to visit different countries in Europe and that's how I heard about Couchsurfing. I was nervous at first but after meeting Nike (a super friendly girl in Berlin) my fears dissipated and I was able to enjoy new and exciting people from all around the world.

Because of this is that I also decided to host people in my house, to indirectly return the favor to those who gave me a helping hand when I needed it in places where I didn't know anyone.

As an English teacher I consider learning about different countries extremely important, it has helped me to improve as a teacher but most importantly as a person. Sadly, it has become a bit too difficult for me to host people since I work from Monday to Saturday but I'm open to do it whenever I have the time.

Currently I am living in Indiana, USA. I got a Fulbright scholarship and I am working as a Spanish Teacher Assistant in an university.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I am an English teacher, Couchsurfing can help me improve my English and meet new people around the world, so I can learn about new cultures and share about them with my students.

Interests

I am interested in meeting new people, learning about their culture, their land's cuisine, traditions and ideas.

I like watching TV shows, my favorite one is Game of Thrones, so if you have also watched it then we can have endless conversations about it.

I enjoy swimming although I'm not used to swim in open spaces, more like pools.

I looooove food haha, whether it is eating it or cooking it, I really love food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of music genres, I like a bit of everything but piano songs are my weakness.
I enjoy superhero movies and dramas too.

Lately I have been trying to collect keychains from different parts of the world, so if you can bring one from your hometown I would be very, very thankful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming on ice in Finland!
Seeing the northern lights while holding the hand of the person that I liked.
Learning English by myself.
Learning how to swim after almost drowning in two different situations.
Connecting with my students after having a difficult start.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to practice my English and in return I could help by teaching Spanish.
I could also teach you some Mexican food recipes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can always help with household chores, organizing and cleaning the dishes or even cooking (but don't think I am Ramsay Gordon lol).

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Finland, United States
