Taking a break from CouchSurfing. After having 2/8 not that good experiences, I lost faith in the CouchSurfing’s spirit. I realized reviews are not to be trusted, people don’t dare telling what has happened to them, so they let other young women go through the same bad experience, because yea, who cares? Well I do.
Still, I’ll keep using the hangout part of CouchSurfing.

Hi, my name is Léa, I'm Belgian. I love traveling and I've had the chance to travel during 8 months in the Americas (2016-2017) to improve my Spanish and my English (I volunteered and went to Spanish and English schools). I've had the experience of a lifetime and now I just want to explore other countries! I’ve traveled with CouchSurfing a few times and it was always so cool, the people I met thanks to this are now great friends. Since then, I don’t feel like I belong to Belgium, I feel like I don’t belong anywhere yet, I fell in love with the Latin culture and people, and will probably move there once I’m done with university.

I did a second exchange in Brazil (2019), got to see so many beautiful places and got to meet beautiful people too. (If you’re hesitating about visiting or not Brazil, just go for it, it has so much to offer)
A week after coming back home, I decided to go back to Latin America (“againnn??” Would my family say), so here I go, I’ll be in the Caribbean in January 2020.

I’m member of ESN (Exchange student network) at my university, which means that I spend most of my time helping and hanging out with international people.

(I’m sorry I’m not able to host anyone in Belgium right now, I’m living in a dorm (12m square) and my contract doesn’t allow me to host anyone... But I promise, once I’m done with University, I’ll get a real place and will host you, couchsurfers!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CouchSurfing because it's te best way to learn about a culture and get involved in it. Also, people here are always so friendly and I've enjoyed every stay in host's houses.
Moreover, it's not always an easy thing to meet people while traveling, thanks to CouchSurfing, you directly know, at least, one person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first crazy thing I did is probably leaving home, for 9 months, on my own, when I was only 17. But definitely the best decision I ever took.
Also, I've done swing jumping in Ecuador but I've got the fear of heights.
It was crazy and my back hurt for a week after that. But at least I could prove to myself that I can surpass my fears.
