Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION: live more than you have!
ABOUT ME: I'm friendly, easy going, open-minded, and always in a good mood. Probably sarcastic, mostly ironic. I can find reasons to laugh even in the worst situation. A bit clumsy, maybe, but with a big heart :)
I love animals (have 3 dogs and a cat in my place, but I've lived in an little farm with ~around~ other 30 rescued animals). If I weren't a translator and a teacher, I'd be a happy dog walker! I'm also deeply interested in history, museums, paleontology (dinos!!!), archaeology; different food and beers; theater, dance, music, literature or any other expression of arts... I'm also into getting to understand different cultural and political points of view. I'd love to grab a serving of french fries (with or without cheese and bacon) and a pint to start a long conversation about any of these (and other) subjects.
I was born and grew up in the "wonderful city" of Rio de Janeiro. And despite all the luxury of Ipanema and Leblon, all the overrated souvenir shops in Copacabana, my heart belongs to the streets: I love the chaos of downtown, the bars and diners where people hang out and call the waiters/waitresses by their names (in Rio, they're always "the boss" - or chefia, as we say), I love to go out dancing and singing (bad performer, though) with people I don't know and who's gonna be my best friend at the end of the night. I can't even put in words how much I like checking out on local handicrafts and arts. The city and its real life impress me more than overpriced touristic spots.
** LGBT-friendly places are always a good idea. Hit me up =D
** I'm totally weed friendly (and user, lol), but it doesn't mean I'll smoke in your place. If you don't like it, that is perfectly fine, I won't do it around you or at your place. But if you also enjoy it, let's puff together! =D
** CouchSurfing is no Tinder. I'm here to make new friends, learn about other cultures and teach others mine.
PS: Respecting life is essential to build a better, more-comprehensive society. This requires being non-racist, non-homophobic, non-sexist and being against any kind of intolerance. Make sure you understand it and mention it anyhow on your message or request.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This life is too short not to meet many different cultures and not to have new experiences. This is what makes people... people!
And CouchSurfing makes it possible in so many ways that I feel actually greatful to be part of it :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love a variety of music styles, rock and MPB (Brazilian music) being my favorite. In books and movies I prefer historical, comedy, adventure and scifi ones. I've been reading about general and black feminism as well as Linguistics in an attempt to make a doctorate project =P
My favorite book of all time is The Little Prince. Even got a tattoo for it. For me, there are many things we can learn from this story according to the different moments we experience in life. I'd be happy to share comments on this =)
Concerning the classical authors, I've read Dom Casmurro (from the Brazilian author Machado de Assis - this books is just perfect!), Don Quijote de La Mancha, The Fall of the House of Usher (brilliant Poe!), some tales from Hemingway.
I love writing. My texts are in Portuguese, but if you feel like checking them out you might wanna click here: http://forgotten-chimera.blogspot.com/
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been a volunteer in a course for transgender people who did not have financial conditions to finish High School or who had been abandoned by their families. Listening to their stories and helping them develop intelectually and personally have made me understand that teaching is a social need in order to get rid of the historical chains society has forced us to wear.
Also, I've unplannedly moved to another country out of scratch and started a new life here, knowing no-one, carrying none of the most important documents... still, I'm here! Ain't that incredible enough? =P
