About Me

Hello, I am Catalina, my friends tell me Cata, and I am a student of Engineering in Biotechnology, and I am currently doing a 6 month university exchange in Oviedo, Spain.
I am 24 years old and I love to travel, I am always looking for a new place to know, some other country, another culture, new foods and new friends.
I really like reading too! Apart from reading science articles I also really like novels, adventure books, love and fantasy. I am also a very good cook, hahaha well, at least so say my friends and my family.

In general the trips that interest me are tourism and adventure. Of tourism I mean to know cities, to visit historical monuments, to taste typical meals, to see art and culture, while travel of adventure I am referring to trips to know natural monuments, to climb a mountain, places immersed in the nature mainly and those that allow to practice sports such as trekking, canopy, ski, rafting, ect.

As a guest, I consider myself very good! I am responsible, very tidy and clean (my mother says a little TOC hahahhaha), besides I am not going to parties so much, I prefer to take advantage of the day knowing and at night to rest well. I like to converse very much, I consider myself very educated in various subjects and I am always willing to know more about other cultures. I speak Spanish very well and intermediate English. I had a basic course also German in the university, but I practice very little.
In general I consider myself a positive person and happy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The truth is the first time I come to Europe and I want to travel, to know and to share a lot !!! And why couchsurfing? Well I think it allows those three things hahaha, meet people from all sides, you can stay in the home of a native of the place or people who live years ago in a different place to their country, and share with them gives you another perspective of Country that visits, a big difference with hotels, where you only pass as a tourist without sharing, crossing words or simply observing the customs of the people.

When I have my own home, I will be happy to receive guests, I think I would be a very good hostess.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music ...mmm... I really like the folk music of my country, as Violeta Parra or Intillimani, Latin music, in general music to dance ! music in English I hear little ... mainly the one that sounds in the radio or that is in the top in spotify hahaha

Favorite books: all the novels of Isabel Allende I love them. I also like the books of OSHO, Jodorowsky (principal "psicomagia") and Neruda poems, and book that marked me "Le petit Prince" (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) and "Como agua para chocolate" (Laura Esquivel)

Movies in general I see everything, except the horror movies hahahaha I'm like a 5 year old girl watching those movies

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 18 years old, I worked hard for 10 months and I was traveling alone to Australia when I finished school, I went to meet, to learn English and to visit relatives for 4 and a half months. It was an adventure for me. After, I went back and entered the University. It was incredible because I went with my own effort and I achieved it at a young age, and I had to persuade my parents that they will authorize me to leave.

The other incredible thing was to slide down (like a slide) over a waterfall of thawing water that fell through a natural stone. I stayed with my ass scratched by the stone hahahaha but the adrenaline and the adventure were much better. This was in the valley of Cochamó in the mountain in Chile.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I think I can always share a good conversation, and if I may cook something delicious! I consider myself a very good cook and I like to do varied dishes and rich desserts.
