About Me

••••••••••••••••
CURRENT MISSION
••••••••••••••••
"Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise again." was one of the quotes that represented how I bounced back after a lot of struggles in life, especially during my darkest nights battling my depression and anxiety. Since five years ago, I have been diagnosed with those disorders, including several suicide attempts in between. I did not expect (and a lot of my surroundings too) that I would reach such a low point back then, but I understand that it was a necessary phase of life that helped me to be who I am today.

Since that day, it has ignited the light within me, I wanted to also help other people believe that they can shine, even if they are not bright enough. It does not matter as long as you shine and have the light. That reason has already made me dive into the medical field and aspire to become a psychiatrist one day. So, listening to stories, deep talk, and understanding humans is so fascinating to me.

Having the privilege of energy as a youth allowed me to explore a lot of places back then, but now I would prefer to also connect with people while travelling the world too. I hope we can connect somewhere in between, and learn that we can be someone who help this world to be a better place, to live or to host :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Back then, during my "exciting" times as a medical student who often went to international conferences and traveled to some parts of the world, couchsurfing helped me a lot! But I was sad that I could not maximize the best experience to connect.

Nowadays, I find it more meaningful to connect with people, and I have experienced myself that there are many beautiful souls on this platform with whom I would love to connect more. I am still not having the privilege to host due to my living and career situation, but maybe one day, after I settle, I would love to give back as a host too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : Acapella, Pentatonix, Nor'Easters, Coldplay, K-Pop (NMIXX, Ateez, Mamamoo)
To be honest, I can enjoy a different kind of genre, but yeah, singing is a major influence on how I love music and songs, since I have been growing up in choir from kindergarten to university.

Movies : Harry Potter (Potterheads, anyone?!) , Dune, Parasite, The Imitation Game, Get Out, X-Men, Hidden Figures, Star Trek. Other than big franchises like Star Trek, Harry Potter, Dune, and other sci-fi/fantasy movies, psychological thrillers and dramas can be my favorite genres too!

TV Series : A major fan of sitcoms like the classic FRIENDS (fun fact: I rewatched it almost 10 times already lol) to the most recent Ted Lasso, and also Modern Family in between. But I also love fantasy ones like Game of Thrones, and of course, anime like Attack on Titans, and other nostalgic ones like Pokemon, Hunter X Hunter, Naruto, and others!

Books: I CANNOT CHOOSE! But my main genres are Psychology and Philosophy books ranging from "The Myth of Normal" by Gabor Mate to "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius", to Harry Potters, and Psychological thrillers like "Silent Patient". Oh, and self-help books are my quilty pleasures too, lol..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a human, I think the time when I bounced back after suicide attempts, which I have to say made me proud of myself for surviving life,

As a health practitioner, worked in a 56-hours (or 3 continuous) shifts since we had a shortage of workforce, a one time that I questioned my own limit but of course, only once and never wanted to go back to that point.

As a traveller, well, I am quite a comfort-zone traveller, but I had my very first backpacking trip in Japan in January 2017, where I visited 7 different cities (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go, Kawaguchiko, and Yuzawa) in only 10 days! I'm really looking forward to another exciting and challenging trip!

Teach, Learn, Share

There's a lot to learn, of course! I would love to learn about cultures and insider perspectives about the city and place you reside in, which I believe would be valuable insights for me. And of course, I want to learn about YOU as a person too, because it would be something that cannot be exchanged for anything, because we are the only ones in the world, and being able to learn about each other is a very deep process.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It would be an honor to share about my stories (if you want to)

Whether about me as a medical doctor, especially in Indonesia,
or about my experience as depression and anxiety disorder / suicide attempt survivor,

But other than me being a storyteller, I can also happily share about my singing :D I LOVE SINGING, and if you are also into music, or singing too, we can have a duet or some jam together!
And I do not think I can separate myself from food, and I can cook some food too! So if you are okay with lending your kitchen, I would be happy to cook for you too :)
