About Me

Hi!, my name is Jakub Štingl. I am twenty two years old and this is the second third I study Maths and Philosophy on the Charles' university of Prague. I love travelling, especially for hiking in the mountains and knowing different cultures through meeting with local people. I like many differents kinds of sport sport - indoor (bouldering, squash, floorball) and outdoor as well (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cyckling, running) :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling.
Because I am student, money is quite an important factor for me therefore couchsurfing is a choice no. 1.
But most of all I love the idea of knowing new people in this very natural way. Where can you get a better experience of someone's culture than from his own couch?

And because I live in Prague I can imagine that my couch could serve to other (mainly young) people who like me want to know other cultures through their living room!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a variety of kinds of music. What genre I choose depends on the current mood :-) (White Stripes, Pixies, Clash, the Beatles, U2, Coldplay, Simon and Garfunkel, Caro Emerald, Hiltop Hoods, Arctic Monkeys, Linkin Park, London Grammar, Of monsters and men, Portugal the man, the Neighbourhood, Florence +the Machine, Alt-J...) I like quite a lot of movies as well... mostly those where the actual actors and their performances are more important than CGI ;-) Movies: Commedies and psychothrillers, action films as well (Some like it hot, Lost Weekend, Memento, Forest Gump, Once upon a time in the West, Lord of the Rings, Books: Umberto Eco, Kafka, Tolkien, G. R. R. Martin, Hrabal, Havel...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent one year studying in France. I started studying philosophy. I taught my grandma how to use skype. I can not decide which one is the best among these.
