My name is Karin.

I'm a student from Slovakia currently studying in Olomouc (Czech republic). I study Dentistry at the Palacky University.

I love my country, Slovakia is small but really beautiful, mountains here are so adorable! But I also like travelling and exploring different countries, that is why I now study and live in Olomouc, I love Prague, Budapest, Berlin for example, but I have been to many more places I have a great memories of :).

I'm really sociable, easygoing and kind person who always enjoys to spend time with nice people. I'm pretty independent so I don't mind to travel by myself but I always really like when locals show me the best highlights of their city (but still I'm not going to bother you with non stop calls or wanting you to show me everything, I can make my own program so you don't have to think about my plans non stop ;) ).

My huge hobby is crafting... kind of anything :D. I make earrings, bracelets and other jewelery but now I mostly make notebooks. I make them all from cutting the paper, through sewing and gluing the spine together to making my own cover to each notebook (I include pictures in the Photo section). I try to make them mostly from recycled material so I can give life to things that would be probably thrown away with no use. I would be very happy to make you your own custom notebook if you can host me :).

Another hobby for me is actually my school – dentistry. I love medicine and educating in this sphere (but not only ;)). So I can totally give you some dental advice if needed haha :D. Maybe you can learn something you didn´t know yet from me :).

Since I was a kid I have danced a lot (ballet, contemporary dance, slovak folk dance) so I am a bit of an artistic soul :D. Few years I also thought children to dance ballet basics. I also play the piano a little and I played theatre for many years which was a great experience because I got to many countries by acting on a different festivals.

I love music festivals, I visit some local slovak and czech festivals and also last summer it was my second time to visit amazing Sziget festival in Budapest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It sounds pretty clichée to say that - but mainly because I want to meet new people. I would like to see the places I visit through eyes of local people because for me that is the best possible option of getting to know new countries or cultures. Normally I wouldn't get the chance to talk to people about their lives, countries and stories they have to share... This is a great opportunity than :)

I'm new to couchsurfing so I didn't have time to host much people yet but I'm open minded for this idea and I would like to participate in this community when I have the possibility. From september to June I live in Olomouc (Czech republic) and during summer I am mostly in Kremnica (Slovakia) if I'm not somewhere on the road.

I also love tasting new local food and getting lost in cities I have never been to (lost is ment as a metafor :D but you sure all know what I mean...). I adore hiking, mountains and nature so these activities are the best for me...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm...
I'm kind of proud of the project I established back in high school with my 2 friends. It's a competition in Biology for children from elementary schools where they can particiapate, win some prices but mailny learn something about how important and irreplacable our nature is. Children can make teams and work together on different tasks divided to many rounds. We started this project in 2013 and even when we left high school for universities, the project is still working for the 4th year in a row :). It's pretty amazing I think... :)

I also dedicated my life to helping the others by choosing medicine as my lifestyle :) ('cause it's not just school... :)).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn new things, I always want to learn a few words from any language so I will be very happy if you can teach me something from your language, I can teach you some Slovakian words, too :) It is a very beautiful language, but not very easy :). However, I think everyone can learn some words and I would be happy to teach you! :)

I can also teach you some bookbinding if you are interested ;).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a sociable, kind, friendly person but I do understand and respect personal space so I can spend time with you when it´s possible but when you are busy I can relate to that and go my own way ;). I have treveled a little so I can share my experiences with you. I also have family in many countries such as England – London, Germany – Mainz, USA – Dallas/Texas, Austria – Linz.
