About Me

Hey, I’m Felipe a British/Dominican who often travels! Amsterdam based. I grew up in the Dominican Republic, took a year out and lived with a host family in Belgium, and then settled in the Netherlands. Currently traveling around Europe.
Love meeting new people and learning about what they have experienced and where they come from. Will definitely talk about the Dominican Republic, the history of the Caribbean, and much more with lots of passion, if asked about it. I can also be very quiet.
Music has played a big part in my life. Ive lived with jazz students for the last 2 years and have been exposed to countless jam sessions. Always looking to listen to new stuff.
I'm pretty open to new experiences and im always up for exploring new places. I think at some point i want to settle down and have a family. For now though, im happy to be travelling around and learning things about the world. At some point i really want to visit Mongolia.
I also love cats and dogs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I'm travelling I really enjoy the opportunity to meet new people in places I wouldn't normally expect to do so. I think that the best way to really have a perspective on what a place is, is by meeting the locals and learning from them. I also enjoy sleeping on couches. I can already sleep anywhere, so a couch is actually quite an upgrade.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't really have a preferred genre of music, I can normally listen to anything and find something to appreciate in it (Even country). However, I grew up listening to bachata, reggae and 60s folk music. They have a special place in my heart.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Growing up in Dominican Republic, I was always told not to take public transportation or hitchhike. Last summer I returned home and did just that, traveling the entire island like this. It gave me a completely different view and perspective on the place I was supposed to have grown up in.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell really bad dad jokes, can give you a basic lesson on how to dance bachata and merengue (can't guarentee it will be very good though). I love sharing a good beer with people, and listening to what they have done in their life.

Belgium, Bolivia, Canada, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, England, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, United States
