My life is driven by curiosity and an eagerness to learn about everything (and everyone) I encounter.
I love sailing, which I do competitively, but also just for fun. The sea is what I enjoy the most. Besides that, I love to travel by foot and bicycle. For farther travels, I like to hitchhike and thereby spontaneously meeting all kinds of different people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like hitchhiking, it creates a perfect opportunity to meet different people spontaneously, who I would otherwise probably never have met, or would have payed likewise attention to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've once sailed to Norway from the Netherlands, sailing four days straight on open sea. It was quite exciting, with strong winds from the opposite direction. We experienced the most beautiful sunsets, sunrises and astonishing starlit skies. There is nothing more wonderful than travelling with the winds. Although we were extremely tired and in real need of a nice shower, the feeling of arriving after such a beautiful, challenging travel, I will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share different views on the world with people I meet. My study in anthropology has taught me how to look at the world with an open mind, which greatly influences me in daily life. I am always curious at how others view the social and political world out of their experiences, and like to discuss social and political engaged subjects endlessly.

I look forward to learning new languages. I tried several times to learn Spanish, and was taught French and German at High School. New languages leave the mind quite fast when out of use though... So any opportunity to learn new languages, I would gratefully take up!
