About Me
Hey, I'm Laurène, 31 years old, and I try to live as a digital nomad.
I studied philosophy for 5 years, then enrolled a business school and specialised in sustainable development for my Master's degree. Just when I graduated I had an epiphany about my true calling in life: teaching. For me it was neither too late nor irrelevent to embrace a new field from scratch. Despite my background, I have worked my way in education: I now teach university students and adults about design (a world I dove into when I first tried to create a website/blog when I was younger). I have been learning for years in order to legitimately work as a freelance designer and teacher. I'm happy to live out of my passion but I sometimes do experience imposter syndrome as a self-taught.
In September 2017, I left my life in Paris to travel and experiment a new way of life, with less comfort and financial security but way more freedom. I'm lucky my professional skills allow me to live this way: I work remotely as a web designer and online teacher; basically, I just need my computer and a good internet connexion to work.
I've started my journey in New Zealand where I bought a van and travelled around the country for 9 months. After a 1 month trip in French Polynesia, I travelled for a year all around Australia.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After almost a year on a road trip living in a van, I want to experiment another way of travelling: discovering a country via people instead of a roadmap/ lonely planet book...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 12, my family and I moved from France to French Guiana (South America). I grew up there, surrounded by the jungle and spent the richest years of my life. I moved back to France after highschool to study but this experience made me want to live in other countries. I lived for 1 year in England, 6 months in Canada, 9 months in New Zealand, 1 year in Australia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm passionate about education and design, so I've created my job out of this mix. If you need advice regarding a website, graphic design and such, I'd be happy to help!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd like to meet people who share their stories and experience about their country, things to do and see, great itineraries, etc.
I'd be glad to share my travelling experience as well and my insights if you want to live in a van or learn more about the countries I lived in such as France, French Guiana, New Zealand and Australia...
