About Me

Hi my name is Christiana and thanks for stopping by my profile! I have always had a passion for traveling and meeting new people. I used to work in San Francisco in a sales role where I spent 50-60 hours per week hiding in a cubicle behind a computer screen. I came to a point where I had to ask myself if I was truly happy and what I wanted out of life, so I made the decision to quit my job and begin my traveling endeavor!

I have always loved to travel and learn about different cultures so I took a leap of faith and joined the digital nomad community. I currently teach English online and love every moment of it! It has given me the ability to travel and follow my passion. Life is short, life is beautiful, and I plan to enjoy every moment of it!
I try to always see the beauty in life and see the glass half full. I enjoy the little things and try to bring positivity to every action and every person I meet. I have an adventurous spirit and love spending time outdoors to explore, but I can also be found sitting in a cafe enjoying a good book, or pounding back some drinks and dancing the night away.

Now you know a little about me, I hope I can get to know a little about you and get the chance to meet in person!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To me, traveling isn't just about seeing new sites and visiting monuments or museums, it is about fully immersing yourself in the culture and understanding the way of life for that particular country. I like to get a locals perspective or even meet up with expats to gain knowledge on a deeper level than what websites or books can tell you. I love to know where the locals hang out, what foods you like to eat, some history and traditions, or even politics. It would be great to know some fun local spots or learn some new skills while I am visiting and I promise to exchange the favor.

It's important for me to meet people from all around the world to share stories and make new memories. We are but one race, the human race, and I choose to treat everyone with respect and love. I would love to meet up over coffee or drinks to get to know more about you and the country you call home. Please don't be shy to reach out and start a conversation!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music, but what I enjoy most, is getting to know the traditional music of the country I am currently in. I love live music and LOVE going to music festivals. My goal is to eventually travel around the world volunteering at music festivals. The community that is formed and the vibes of positive energy are undoubtably the best experiences! I have volunteered at many festivals and this summer alone I will work at 3 in Europe!

I also love all types of books. I love reading travel books such as Rick Steves so I can get an understanding of the country and great things to see/do. I also love reading classic literature and Pride and Prejudice is my absolute favorite book!

In regards to movies, I only like 4 genres. comedy being number one, followed my action/adventure, science fiction, and romance. I will absolutely never watch a scary movie…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After I graduated from university, I decided I wasn't quite ready to join the adult working world, so I decided to volunteer in Costa Rica for 6 months teaching English. It was an incredible experience for me and I learned a lot about myself and the importance of giving to others. I taught in a poor area of San Jose called Barrio Cuba where I worked 4 hours a day with kids of all ages. It was an incredibly eye opening experience and made me realize I have a passion for kids and helping others. It is important for me to give back in any way I can and I hope to continue doing so for the remainder of my time here on earth.

"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow."
- Anthony J. D'Angelo

"There can be no enduring peace, prosperity, equality ad brotherhood in this world if our aims are so separate and divergent, if we do not accept that in the end are are people, all alike, sharing the Earth among ourselves and also with other sentient beings, all of whom have an equal role and stake in the state of this planet and its players."
-Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share fun stories, experiences, positive vibes, and delicious foods because I love to cook! I would also love to help with English lessons if that is something you want to work on. I teach kids who have little to no English experience so I am very patient and great with charades!
