About Me

I am a free soul, passionate about education, learning & experiencing new cultures, building friendship & relationship. I also happen to be a Structural Engineer who likes buildings & structures. I grew up in southern part of India in the state of Tamil Nadu. I have lived in some of the big cities of India like Chennai, Bangalore & Mumbai. I came to the US to pursue my Masters education at Georgia Tech, Atlanta. I then moved to Tampa FL for work and I live here now. I can never get bored of the beaches and Tampa Bay has some of the amazing beaches to offer me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After grad school, all my friends and I have become corporate professionals and it is rare that we find a common time to plan for trips. So, I recently began traveling solo trying to make travel plans all by myself, not depending on anyone else. I have read so much on the internet about traveling solo on a budget and they all suggest staying in hostels and trying couch-surfing to cut costs and spend more money on other experiences the new place has to offer. I have already tried hostels for my last two solo trips and now is the time to explore couchsurfing. I truly love the experience of traveling to new places alone and interacting with the locals to learn about the place and their culture. So far, hostels have helped me meet some amazing people and build instant friendships in a new place. I'm hoping couchsurfing will give me a similar experience. I plan to host fellow travelers in future upon learning how couchsurfing actually works and feels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm impartial to types of music. My taste of music depends on my mood. My recent favorite is instrumental jazz. I can't stop getting excited about fantasy and superhero movies. I appreciate a good story and acting regardless of language. There are so many of my favorite movies. For eg., Memento, Prestige, Interstellar, 12 angry men, 7 Samurai, Reservoir Dogs, 3 idiots, The Intouchables, Marvel superhero movies. Reading books has been something I've tried to do a lot of times and failed unfortunately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one? I've done quite some amazing things so far. The one I remember now is chasing the dark clouds in a forest area in the north borders of Georgia to witness the 100% Solar Eclipse. The feeling after experiencing that was so pristine I cannot describe it in words.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my life experiences that I learned from living in different parts of India and their cultures. And about the cultural shock I experienced when I moved to the USA and how I'm still getting accustomed to the culture here. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to share with hosts but not sure what I'm expected to mention here.
