About Me

Hey! I am a writer and I like to explore, create and meet new people wherever I am traveling :)
I haven't published a novel yet but after ten years of (semi-professional) writing two of my novels are finally in their last stages before publication.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to make new friends and have intense conversations. You don't need to travel every single country in our world but one of my goals is to meet one fascinating person from every country. Couch Surfing is a great help :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Kafka, Hesse, Orwell and Wilde

I think taste relativizes in a way once you have read more than 1000 books. I am trying to rather find new things I can like and explore than sticking with my old favorites. Elsewise I like to read down lists like this one: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/short-books
For movies; Nearly everything that is good especially Star Wars (franchise), Christopher Nolan (director) and Aaron Sorking (Writer). Sometimes I am a bit difficult when it comes to picking the next film as I don't really enjoy movies with low Meta- or Rotten Tomatoes Score (as a low score usually goes hand in hand with bad writing) but I am often make exceptions for Musicals, Rock movies and Teenage Comedies

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've written my first 550 page long book with 16! From a technical points its really bad but it was still fun to write and taught me a lot about writing.

--------------
Some other things...
Volunteering in Westafrica and Couchsurfing in Ghana (for the first time Couch Surfing there in my life)
Having a long distance relationship with my Taiwanese girlfriend for more than 3 1/2 years. (We finally moved together. After it feels like we split up and found back together for more than ten times.)
----------------------------------
Two Amazing and Crazy Things Happening to Me:
Traveling to 40 countries without ever getting robbed but being assaulted on the street on exactly the first night of my first big Interrail adventure with 18. During this trip we als drove behind a long distance bus we missed in a Taxi until we catched the bus. Quite fun :D
Or reaching all of my goals and even some of my most distant dreams around the summer of 2018 and losing everything within a few month (This is a story for a late night dinner conversation haha)

Teach, Learn, Share

"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you." Dale Carnegie

I think that was one of the most fascinating lessons I learned in my early 20s. I am not a huge fan of chit-chat and small-talk, however. Instead I like to talk about 19th century German Philosophers, the influence of state debt on the world economy, the fall of the Roman Empire, whatever... I like to talk about nearly everything but in the right depths :) Even if it's football or sports. I was raised in Dortmund which is kind of the inofficial football capital of Germany :D (Munich and Schalke fans won't agree here. But the rest of Germans would) I also started teaching Debating occasionally for younger university students. That's something you should know about me. I like to have these intense discussions about many of these topics some other people avoid to talk about like religion, politics, (history of) nationalism, love and relationships. https://aeon.co/ is by far my favorite blog for example and all these topics get an in-depth coverage. Elsewise: If you want to get a recommendation for a good book or the opinion of an exotic and dead philosopher I am usually someone you can talk to or if you are just looking for a companion on your next small adventure or exploration!

What I Can Share with Hosts

So as I consider myself a story teller – I like to exchange stories a lot. I think you got that by now :D
Elsewise I can cook some small dishes like German pancakes or we can practice to talk English or German together. I am looking forward to meet you!
