Overview
About Me
I'm university student on a year abroad in China, I spent a gap year in South America and caught the travel bug. My degree is Combined Honours with the subjects English Literature, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. I love to read, I enjoy writing, dance, making art and playing instruments mediocre-ly. I'm always up for a Netflix binge, going to a gallery or museum, or cooking your favourite food from your country. I love immersing myself in local culture - for example, in China I am learning to play the Guqin and am studying Kung Fu!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy travelling, I love to interact with local people - to practise my languages and to get to know the places I'm visiting better. Understanding how local people live, and talking to them about their opinions and perspectives is always my favourite part of any trip, and Couchsurfing is a great way to engage with people in that way.
I also think that Couchsurfing is a way to meet like-minded people and make friends wherever you go.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love classical music, indie rock and acoustic guitar. Some of my favourite artists are IDLES, Sundara Karma, Two Door Cinema Club and King Princess.
My favourite film at the moment is The Farewell, a nuanced performance of east/west values, family, and grief with some brilliant acting. I also love the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and some classic cheesy romcoms (in small doses).
Reading and writing poetry is my biggest hobby, I couldn't pick a favourite poet! For reading, I love anything by Toni Morrison, and anything that takes me to another place or time and has a gripping narrative.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Laguna 69 hike in Huaraz, Peru. I really struggled, especially with the altitude, but even though I was the slowest in my group I made it! I have never been so happy to see a body of water before. It's incredibly beautiful, bright turquoise water and altogether a great achievement for me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I wouldn't say that I'm an expert in any of my hobbies quite yet, but I'm always willing to share the knowledge I have. A language exchange is always great! I enjoy learning in general, but especially language or art based skills.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Someone who's interested in seeing what it's like to live in your city and experiencing local culture of all kinds. An extra pair of hands to help with cooking or making something. A potential language exchange if you want to improve your English, or just a nice chat!
