About Me

Hi all!
Since my first 'backpack' trip to Thailand in 2013, I'm in love with travelling. Every chance that I get I want to visit new places and meet new people!
That's why I'm travelling the world since August 2016, together with my friend Yoeri. When we were in Australia we met so many lovely locals and we often stayed at their homes. It was a great way of meeting people and have an insight how people live on the other side of the planet.

Because of the language barrier in Asia we found it a bit harder to meet locals here who could actually teach us how they live their lives. A friend mentioned Couchsurfing as a great way of meeting people in Asia as well, so we gave it a try and... this is awesome!!

Our first CS experiences were in Korea and after that we have also surfed in Japan, Hong Kong and China mainland.
We met the nicest people, had so many unique experiences and really got an insight about the hosts live their life! How cool is it that we now have friends in places like Seoul, Osaka, Tokyo & Hong Kong?

Next stop: USA! Cannot wait to meet them!

In short about us: we are a really open minded, non smoking couple. We are clean, polight and simply love meeting new people 😊

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to make new friends worldwide, learn about other peoples lifes in countries way different than mine and just have a good laugh with people around the world!

Interests

We're big cinema fans and we love animals. I myself have a horse back home. A little old grumpy one, called Teun. He is already 40 years old haha.
In my free time in Holland I love to hang out with friends and just eat and drink and chat the entire night. Love it! When I'm travelling I like to see and do a lot of different things and I'm always curious for new food. I also really love shopping! But now when we're travelling with our backpacks I just have to wait with shopping when we're back home again haha.
As a sport I did horse riding and joined jumping contests. My record was 1.80 meter! After that I quit, but Yoeri is still very active. He likes all kinds of sport, but is an amazing soccer fan. He worked for Fox Sports so he was getting paid to watch matches as well haha, how cool is that?
Back home when we're together, we love to just cook an amazing dinner and watch a movie or 2, so relaxing!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music but Techno is not really my thing.. While travelling I read a lot more than back home, mostly novels. But mostly I looooove watching movies or going to the cinema. I like all kind of movies, also horror! Poor Yoeri can't watch for 5 minutes without almost crying like a baby but I simply love it 😉

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh where to start... Skydiving in New Zealand, watching Orangutans in Indonesia and meeting so many lovely locals in Australia. On our first night in Australia we were invited by some locals for a barbeque. We met the nicest people and eventually we even were invited to stay at their parents houses a couple thousand kilometers further down south, just because their kids told them that we had such a good time together! How sweet is that?

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very happy to help someone improving their English or Dutch, teach you about horses or my job behind the scenes of an airport catering company!
I want to learn how it is to live in your country. What do you do in your free time, why do you host and how do you do that? Since we're relatively new to CS we want to learn what is important to know so that we can be good hosts in Holland when we get back.
I want to share my experiences around the world and I hope you will too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A helping hand in cleaning the house, cooking and other things. A smile, a nice conversation and an insight in how Dutch people live their lives but also an insight in the Dutch cuisine if your interested 😊
