My name is Ann and I can't live without traveling. I'm 18 and at the moment I'm taking a gap year after finishing high school. I wanna see the world, find friends all over it and share my excitement to this beautiful life with them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that couchsurfing is the best way to meet new friends all over the world and to understand other cultures. I think it's far better to sit on the floor with your host and other surfers, sing songs and tell stories than to sit in a fancy hotel all alone.
I definitely don’t think that CS is ‘Airbnb for free’, I see it as a way to immerse yourself into another culture by knowing other people, sharing with them and learning from them. I think that sharing experience, kindness, stories and smiles is far more valuable than money.

Interests

I'm a big cinema fan and hope that one day I can become a filmmaker. I also love photography and cinematography, singing and playing ukulele and guitar. I also write some poetry and would love to read it for you and translate it (cause it’s Russian haha) if you want me to. I recently started a YouTube channel where I share my adventures and trips with others.
I’m really eager to try hiking someday. Right now I want to see as much as I can in Europe. Moreover I have a dream to visit all 50 of the United States by minivan or hitch-hiking.

Reggae, rock music, especially music from 60s-80s, The Beatles, Scorpions, Jazz

Books: On the road by Jack Kerouac is my favorite, also loved Norwegian wood by Murakami, a huge Harry Potter fan, I know a lot about Russian literature: Crime and Punishment, Master and Margarita are my favorite

Films: Pulp Fiction and other Tarantino movies, Breakfast club, Wild, The Darjeeling limited, Whiplash, La la land, Amélie Poulain, Xavier Dolan films (Mommy, It’s just the end of the world), musicals and old Soviet films

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Russian, shoot photo and video of you or your friends. I can also play the guitar or ukulele and sing for you and tell a bunch of stuff about Russia and Russian people as well as about my trips. I'm not a great cook but I can make delicious pasta with cheese.
