¡Hola! I’m Miguel, from Lima, Peru. I live now in Atlanta, GA. I am a professor of Latin American literature and culture at Georgia Tech. I completed my PhD at Brown University. I’m so far 10 years living in the US. I have traveled a lot in Europe and Latin America. Many stories to share. I’d love to hear yours too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was younger and backpacked in Peru, local people in little towns hosted me often. This has happened to me also in other countries by just making friends on the street. I like the idea of helping travelers as once others have generously helped me.

Interests

Many interests. Right now? Everything seems to be focused on getting used to my new life in Atlanta and also a kind of travel book I’m working on.

Music, Movies, and Books

Basically, all types of music. I like classic rock and also good salsa to listen and of course to dance. Latin American folk music is a passion too.
I prefer filmmakers over specific movies. Some of them: Pier Paolo Pasolini, John Huston, Ingmar Bergman, Nikita Mikhalkov, Coen Brothers, Michael Haneke, and many more.
Books. Imposible to say. A lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled for a year (2017-2018) in South America and Europe while writing my PhD dissertation and other things. It was a fantastic time, full of knowledge, peoples and emotions.
