About Me
SYLWIA JĘDERNALIK & MACIEJ PASTWA
We are couple of travelers from Poland. Two different people who complement each other. When we travel around Europe - we use our old car, which has been converted by Maciej to a caravan. We have there almost everything what we need for life. This is our lovely house on wheels and our best friend during travel!
When we travel outside of Europe we take our backpacks with us and use all possible types of transport.
We both love the mountains but also the two of us have fear of heights with which we fight. In the mountains we love almost everything - their beauty, severity, unpredictability. The fear of height does not allow us to go all the way in the mountains, but we try not give up constantly.
But we are not only travelers. We are also volunteers and we engage in social and helping project. Over the past two years we have been creating and coordinating a project to rebuild a school in Nepal that collapsed during the 2015 earthquake. And we did it! We have successfully built a large school in Nepal!
Maciej - I'm a traveler almost from birth. I spent half my life on the journey. I have visited 91 countries of the world on 6 continents. For many years I have been involved in projects that are designed to help other people.I am the initiator, coordinator or fundraiser of these projects. To improve safety I painted 56km of trails in the Cajas National Park in Ecuador; To promote environmental protection I have placed 500 information stickers on 86 ferryboats on the Amazon River and organized the cleaning of the Iquitos Port in Peru; In Africa I have funded three wells with drinking water; On a small motorbike I traveled Africa from Chad to Poznan (Poland) - this trip was 26,000 kilometers; In Poland I organized a precursor collection of gifts for Syrian refugees (about 20 tons of gifts worth over $ 135,000) - some of the gifts were distributed in the refugee camp in Bulgaria and some went directly to Syria; In 2015-2017, together with Sylvia in Nepal I coordinated the reconstruction of a school destroyed by earthquake.

Sylwia - I am a sociologist by education and passion and a good observer of social life. I do not have such rich and colorful experience as Maciej but I am constantly taking on new challenges and activities to continue my development :) My adventure with volunteering and social activities began in 2013. I was the coordinator of a big voluntary project - I organized in my city free tutoring and educational support for children and youth from poor families. In 2015 I began coordinating a school reconstruction project in Nepal. The trip to Nepal was the first such far journey of my life. From that moment I became infected with love for traveling, learning about cultures and new people, and discovering what is still unknown to me. I quickly realized that life on the road provides such incentives that no other element of life can provide.
In Nepal I dealt with all elements of the project. Best of all - I was physically working on the school construction with all the local workers. Building a school after an earthquake - although it was very difficult and requiring many sacrifices - is the greatest achievement of my life.

To say more - We open the school in Nepal on 2th June 2017 in Bakrang-6 village in Gorkha District. It was the most beautiful day! This school for 255 students is the biggest school built in Nepal after earthquake thanks to Polish donors - 6000 ft2 with eight classrooms. If you want know more about our school in Nepal you can visit website www.uprowadzonadonepalu.pl. There is a lot of picture, and all information from every construction steps.

What should we write about ourselves to convince you? :)
We are active and positive people with open minds and hearts. Travel is our life and our dreams. We are not conflict and problematic. Although it sounds trivially - we like to spend time with other people, we like to explore the world and get to know it. We like to learn and understand everything that surrounds us.
What's more - we are not an anonymous :) Although we are just starting an adventure on this portal - you can check us almost everywhere. Come to our pages, visit our Facebook or see what the Polish media are saying about us (for example: http://www.tvn24.pl/poznan,43/built-and-the-the-the-value -sie-to-impossible, 749210.html).
Be a guest in our house or be our host in your place :)
See you somewhere on the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The answer to this question is only one - because the idea of this portal is correct. Couchsurfing helps you get a taste of where you are. Because who knows more about places than their own people?
The idea of being with people is also our idea. Wherever we are we want to be as close as possible to local residents and live like they do. This is the reason that over a year in Nepal we lived in a tiny timber house almost without anything. Exactly like the Nepalese in the mountains :)
