About Me

CURRENT MISSION: Live life as well as I can whilst I still have it!

ABOUT ME: I'm a 21 year old student from Bristol, originally from just South of London. Up for meeting new people and helping travelers out as they explore and experience England and the world! A fan of anyone who is up for exploring and learning and doing new things. Happy to be of whatever help I can for visitors, and the best possible visitor I can be when travelling.

PHILOSOPHY
Life philosophy and outlook is entrenched in a Dr Seuss quote:
"Today you are you, that is truer than true,
There is no-one alive who is you-er than you.
Shout loud, 'I am lucky to be what I am!
Thank goodness I'm not just a clam or a ham
Or a dusty old jar of sour gooseberry jam!
I am what I am, that's a great thing to be,
If I Say so myself, happy birthday to me!"

Travelling philosophy is summed up by this gem:
"Maturity has more to do with the experiences you have, and less to do with how old you are"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've done a fair bit of traveling (each year of Uni I've worked in a summer camp in America, plus more), and so know the difficulties of trying to find one's way around a strange country without much support. Also find that as a traveler, you often want to visit the big cities and interesting locations, but in doing so face having to stay in ridiculously expensive accommodation. As a 21 year old without a job apart from owing the government money I can't really afford to do this for an extended period of time! Love the idea that generous and open people are willing to have fellow travel enthusiasts stay with them, and would love for this to become the most accepted form of travel accommodation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music is probably rock/metal, although I enjoy pretty much anything (I know everyone says that but I play instrument which have exposed me to many genres, all of which have parts that I enjoy). Overall my favorite kind of live music is definitely rock. But also love me some Chopin.

I love ridiculous movies that you find funny as a kid, but then watch again when you're older and find even funnier. Examples include Flushed Way, Horton Hears a Who, Zootopia was sick, Rat Race an absolute classic. Also enjoy some more serious ones like Little Miss Sunshine (probs overall favorite film), ones that aren't trying to be too showy.

I love Dr Seuss books, I think there's loads that not only kids but also adults can learn from them, whilst also being quick and easy to read. I'm a big fan of non-fiction, as I love learning new things about the world we live in, but have recently been getting back into fiction as a way to experience a whole different world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked to Germany from Bristol in 36 hours without spending any money. Happy to tell the story of how to anyone wanting to hear!

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure I necessarily understand the question, but...

I can teach: English, maths, philosophy, trombone/piano, best parts of London/Bristol to visit, good pub and beer appreciation, techno dancing, mediocre/sometimes above average banter.

Can learn: Anything!! I'm a firm believer that everyone has something to teach and to learn from everyone else, and I love picking up any interesting, useful or simply enjoyable stuff from anyone that's willing to show me!

Share: Anything that I don't have an irrational sentimental attachment to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

All my limited life experiences, stories that I've heard over the years and positive lessons that I feel others would benefit from engaging with! I also love being a valuable member of a community, so am willing to help out with whatever I can and need to to make my stay as easy as possible for those selfless enough to allow me to stay with them.
