Overview
About Me
I'm a 22 years old student of literature who has spent most of his life working in the back end or the restaurant business to finance his studies, which are about to take a turn towards the classical disciplines, namely latin, history, and classical literature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My purpose in Europe was twofold : see this continent for the first time in preparation for my future studies, and to work in a hostel in Berlin. Sure enough, as I arrived in Berlin, the party with whom I was to offer my work in exchange of a bed rescinded their offer ; so now I am stranded in a foreign city with the budget of someone who was going to work
Music, Movies, and Books
American folk music
contemporary folk and rock music (namely Bob Dylan and the constellation of artists that emanate from his work)
soul and funk (Prince plays a similar role)
Nick Cave
quite a lot more, of course
I don't know much about film, but I'm quite taken with the work of Wong Kar Wai, Akira kurosawa, Jim Jarmusch, Scorcese, Paul Thomas Anderson...
and literature : Woolf, Pynchon, Dickinson, ponge, Mallarmé, Borges, Sebald, Handke, Joyce, Aquin...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I really don't know : either it is too personal to write on a profile, or I haven't done many amazing things
..
I guess working as a dishwasher for 5 years?
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm fluent in French, and good enough in English. I haven't much to share, except my excellent ability to wash dishes, scrub forsaken spots in the kitchen, and wash a floor à grande eau.
I would love to talk music, film and literature.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As said before, I can share with great relish the dishes and the cleaning, and my (relative) knowledge of French and English.
