One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was walking on a frozen lake during the canadian winter. I decided to walk with my raquette shoes from one edge to the other. It was approximatly 3km long. I was walking and enjoying the sun when i felt less and less snow under my shoes until I arrived near the center of the lake where the wind was chasing away all the snow letting the ice shine under the sun. I did not have a lot of experience with how to recognize snow or ice at that time and prefered to walk slowly and listen what noises comes around me. The day before I went ice fishing and made 2 holes. One close to the house with 15 to 20 cm ice recovering the lake. The other 200 meters after. There was only 5 to 7cm ice over there. I was walking around a 100 meters after that last hole. I stopped and crouch. I looked around me and saw big cracks surrending me. I heard water flowing under my feet and a huge sound of ice mooving coming from behind. I got so freaking scared because I realised the ice was really thin where I was. I stood up carefully. I could feel my heart beating in my tongue. The ice was cracking again near me. I walked back exactly in the same tracks from where I came from as carefully and fast as I could. I finally went back near the edge and enjoyed to not be freezing dead ! Dayum
