About Me

I usually travel with my girlfriend, but am going on a solo trip to Toronto soon and want to meet new people, hang out and do fun stuff when I'm there. I am adventurous, have a bit of a dark, dry sense of humour, but am incredibly loyal and caring. I am excited to meet so many different people from all over the world and learn about their beliefs, cultures and ways of life, and in return I can return the favour and make new friends who share a load of great memories and laughs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The whole couch surfing concept is amazing and seems like the best way for me to meet people before my trip even begins. I love to experience the real version of places, rather than just the tourist stuff. Couch surfing ticks all the boxes for meeting new people, travelling on a budget and exchanging cultures. Whilst I am new to couch surfing, I think it is brilliant already, as it brings people closer together in a world where a lot of people seem to want to distance themselves from others. If everyone opened themselves up to other cultures, like couch surfing promotes, life would be better for all.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: absolutely anything and everything. My favourite band is Don Broco, but I like all genres. I can play the alto saxophone and some guitar, though they're both a bit rusty now, as I don't play as much as I used to.

Movies: again, every genre of film. I love watching films. My favourite film is American History X, probably followed by either Toy Story or the Lion king. Anything Christopher Nolan is involved in is gold too.

Books: I don't particularly read much anymore, unless I'm on holiday. My favourite book is Fight Club; I like most Chuck Palahniuk books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On my most recent trip I went off the tourist track in Cape Verde and ended up partying with the locals in a corrugated hut.

Teach, Learn, Share

I started to teach myself Spanish a couple of years ago, but since beginning my nursing degree I've not really had the time for it, but I would love to language exchange with anyone that wants to. I have a second dan black belt in karate and can play the alto saxophone and guitar, so I could help out anyone who wanted to learn them. I enjoy cooking, so I would gladly teach some meals and tips to people who wanted advice. I am up for trying most things, so if someone was passionate about something, I'd definitely give it a go too. I have had quite a few experiences through travelling to different countries or my general life, so there's plenty of stories to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Like I say, I enjoy cooking, so would be very willing to cook meals and help out around the house or with shopping. We could share stories in the evenings and get to know each other. I'm positive we'd make great friends.
