About Me

I am a 29 year old who is travelling South America and India for six months with my fiancée Celsey. I quit my job as a project manager at a youth charity to explore some of the world, meet new people, try new foods and share my experiences with others.

I am a talkative person who is enthusiastic about life and people! Since 16 I have worked or volunteered with an international youth charity so have grown up around people from from all over the world who visit the UK or who I have met overseas.

I play guitar, act (mainly to make people laugh!) and have a real interest in politics. I have loved learning about the issues of different countries and love to know what life is like for children and young people wherever I travel.

I was born in Scotland and consider myself Scottish, I moved to Mewcastle with my Mum when I was ten. I now live in London and have lived there for 11 years so can tell anyone who is interested about life in our capital city!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I proposed to my long term girlfriend Celsey last year and before we get married in summer 2018 we decided to travel together (I guess our trip is like a pre-honeymoon!). Celsey is a midwife who works in the hospital with women who are pregnant so loves to learn how this works in other countries.

We're couch surfing for the first time because we have realised, after meeting and staying with people around the world that you learn much more about a country and a community by sharing a space with local people.

I have found the that I've had the best conversations when exchanging each other's cultures. I want to learn what life is like with local people and want to share my own experiences too.

I'd love to stay somewhere that is like a home, not a hotel!

Music, Movies, and Books

I think music and movies do different things to you at different times so its hard to say a favourite!

But I do prefer bands and guitar music generally. I've been to loads of music festivals including Glastonbury! I love electronic music to dance to, rock music to sing to (Arctic Monkeys are probably the band I like to sing to the most!).

I am a big fan fan of Film. I think my favourite film is Heat by Michael Mann - stylish, tense, action packed but with smart dialogue.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once played a live music concert to 2,000 people with my old band. Ok it wasn't the biggest crowd in the world but It was scary and yet maybe one of the best things I've done!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can TEACH: Guitar, games to play with young people, UK culture, Scottish culture, how to cook UK food.

I want to LEARN: How to cook Indian food, how to sing, about other cultures, what life is like for my hosts, my hosts interests and why they are hosting,

I want to SHARE: A meal, a beer, a game of pool, a game of badminton, music from the UK, good conversation, a night out in our host's city

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've been to many countries so I can share my experiences and stories of Europe, parts of Asia, America, South America and probably other places I've forgotten.

I can share my love for music and play some UK bands that we're listening to at the moment. I play guitar so can certainly share some tips for anyone learning.

At home, I love to cook so I can share recipes and can cook for hosts, whether it's a nice Italian pasta sauce, and British Shepherd's Pie, Sunday Roast or even my attempt at Indian food I am feeling brave...
