About Me
Hi! My names Lucia and I'm an American student studying in Spain this fall. I'm half Venezuelan and was lucky to be able to live there for two summers–one in kindergarten and one in high school. And now I'm in Barcelona hoping to learn more about the culture and about life in Europe! In the short time I've been abroad, I've already been amazed at how different things are from America in ways I would have never anticipated. I'm looking forward to exploring and meeting new people while I'm here!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hope that I can do a lot of traveling in my life, and that along the way I meet cool people and experience the place like a local.
I've had so much more fun couchsurfing than being in hostels while traveling! I've had some pretty amazing experiences in new cities with my hosts that I could have never gotten otherwise. I hope that when I have a place of my own I can pay it forward.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book of all time is Dreams From My Father by Barack Obama. Books I've loved lately are Wild by Cheryl Strayed and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Currently jumping back and forth between The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.
I have seen every episode of Parks and Recreation approximately 1 billion times. I also love Stranger Things, 30 Rock, Bojack Horseman, One Day at a Time, The West Wing, and Jane the Virgin.
I am helpless in the music department, so I would love to hear your music recommendations!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Charmed my way out of being arrested by a member Venezuelan national guard wielding an assault rifle who was aggressively questioning my family for trespassing an isolated area of a Venezuelan National Park
Teach, Learn, Share
One thing I've found is that many people outside the USA don't understand why Hillary Clinton got more votes than Donald Trump and still lost the 2016 election. I'm happy to explain our (convoluted) electoral college system!
