Hi everyone!

We are two sisters from Holland, travelling through South-America. Anne (20 yrs) just finished high school, and Mirjam (25 yrs) Just finished her Masters Molecular Medicine in Berlin. We just spend 5 weeks in Medellin learning spanish, and are excited to see what we can in the next two months. After that Anne will do two months of volunteering in Medellin (because it´s an amazing city) and Mirjam will (unfortunately) have to go back to Germany for her PhD. So we´re travelling until Medio Enero. It´s the first big trip for both of us, and it´s really really nice to do it together. Anne´s sense of humour gets us through most patches, whereas Mirjam works hard to get around the rough patches (or not hahaha ;) ).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mirjam has always had couchsurfers over durng the three years in Amsterdam (but somehow her account is blocked? No entiendo :( ) which always was an amazing. During a first month of travelling Colombia, and staying in hostels most of the time, we really missed actual contact with other people that live and have a life here. The last month we both stayed in a host famliy in Medellin and that was such a nice thing to do! Now that we can speak a bit of spanish, we want to do that differently. We have our own sleeping gear and everything, so just need a little bit of room on the floor to sleep. Looking forward to meeting you!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

El Clasico in Medellin, never saw such passion before. Family trip through the sinai desert on camels, including sleeping under the sky and playing games with the bedouins.

Teach, Learn, Share

At the moment we´re learning spanish and salsa, but next one on the list is surfing! We also really just wanna get to know whereever we end up, and hope you can give us some tips (but no problem if you don´t have time, then we can entertain ourselves as well!) Teaching is a little bit hard to say, we're happy to give and share what we can, and Mirjam can throw in some "fun" facts about cells and bioinformatics (or maybe not :D)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mirjam can talk about everything with you, whereas Anne can crack some jokes about it ;) No but obviously, we can cook an amazing meal consisting out of dutch pancakes, or whatever you want, and help you work on your Dutch, English or German!
