About Me

Hi everyone 😊
I'm Adiam, 20 y/o. I was born and raised in Milan, Italy, but I have Eritrean roots. I'm a nice and a bit shy person, who's nonetheless interested in traveling and meeting new people from all over the world, learning about the cultures, habits and stuff.
Once I get comfortable around people I can actually be fun and down for whatever. I enjoy going to a last minute adventure just as much as chilling watching a movie, taking long walks while talking about the meaning of life, partying all night or just grabbing a beer. Pretty flexible I'd say 😉

I'm currently studying languages and politics in university, hoping that one day I'll be able to help make a difference in someone's life (I know, I'm such a dreamer and I should probably be slightly more realistic, but I guess I can't help it).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new on here but a good friend of mine told me about this amazing platform and she said it's not merely a way to get to sleep somewhere for free, but it's actually very useful and interesting as it gives you the chance to get to know new people and have an authentic grasp of how life is by a local's point of view, so I thought I could try it and see if it works.

Interests

I love dancing, something I've been doing ever since I was little, and I love learning new types of dances from different cultures. I know it sounds weird but I like to use it as a way to relieve stress or just have a good time, my favourites are reggaeton and hip hop, I know salsa and bachata but I want to perfect it.
Also reading is another passion I've always had, it's quite a cliche but I believe it does open your mind and takes you to a whole new world.
Languages are something amazing as they allow you to instantly connect with people from every corner of the world, so I decided to study that in university and I plan on learning as many as possible by traveling as much as I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music I never know how to properly describe my taste, I enjoy heavy rap & hip hop and rnb, but I don't mind listening to any kind as long as it's good. I can go from J. Cole to Bon Iver and Jack Johnson and then again Russ, Logic and Mumford & Sons, The Fray. Lil Wayne's "How to love" is on my top ten though.
Books: I like many different kinds, however my all time favourite is "How to kill a mockingbird".
Movies? Well most of the time I forget movies right after I watch them, but I recently watched "Wadjda" and it was pretty cool. Also Hacksaw Ridge, Shawshank Redemption and a bunch of others that of course I don't remember.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteered in a refugee camp. Well, it's not really a crazy experience or anything, a pretty regular thing actually. However it somehow drastically changed my mindset and my approach to human beings and relations so yeah I'd definitely say it was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new things, whether it's playing an instrument or practicing a new language. I'm also a good listener, I enjoy hearing stories about people's experiences and how they turned out to be the person they are. I can offer my slightly-too-positive view of life, good vibes and a good time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A not so interesting story about my personal life, deep conversations about whatever topic and a beer or a coffee while we be out and about!
