Music, Movies, and Books

I don't like to limit myself to favorites, however, in terms of music, I've always loved the singer Oh Land (her husband makes fantastic visual art to accompany her music).

When it comes to books, I really enjoy reading about the history of mundane things. So far, I've read the history of salt, cod, paper, and I'm currently in the middle of a book about hair. But I don't limit myself to just that sub genre ;-) I also read classical literature, especially short stories (I'm a huge fan).

p.s. If you have the time, read "Their Eyes Were Watching God," by Zora Neale Hurston; I highly recommend it -- its storytelling is enlightening and fabulous! :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I founded my school newspaper's translation department because access to information is a human right and should not be partial toward one language. Currently, we translate into 12 languages:
Spanish
Korean
Vietnamese
Chinese
French
Portuguese
Italian
German
Japanese
Malay
Arabic
Russian

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'll start off with learning, since that's what I love the most.
Learn -- new cultures, slang words, local dialects, history -- whether it be my host's or my host city's
Share -- fun stories! (and maybe even some common language!)
Teach -- I can help with English language practice; I love to tutor!

What I Can Share with Hosts

-A good laugh
-A fun story
-A listening ear
-Snacks
