Overview
About Me
From the Oklahoma/Arkansas region of the United States, but left in January of this year. The plan was to drift east and eventually arrive in Vietnam, where I will settle down for awhile teaching English. Along the way so far I have volunteered in France, Bosnia, Greece, India, and Romania. I also do a little freelance writing work and online teaching as well to help keep me afloat.
Trying to be more of a minimalist, sold off most my possessions before I left, and only travel with one bag which makes things simple. Flexible and happy with whatever accommodations are supplied, and will certainly be respectful of any house rules regarding cleanliness expectations, food, etc.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To travel the world through atypical means, and get a better sense of the local culture and customs wherever I visit. Making personal and lasting connections with other guests and host alike, I heard couchsurfing is the way to go to make memorable experiences. I'm new, but so far the experience has been incredible. Making authentic connections with locals rather than staying in a hotel safety bubble is exactly what I'm looking for on my trip.

Music, Movies, and Books
Writers - Douglas Adams Isaac Asimov Charles Bukowski Albert Camus T.S. Music - Indie rock/Electronic/Hip-hop mostly, but pretty agreeable to most genres aside from pop country, which luckily hasn't been an issue so far.
Don't watch as much television lately, but I love a good film. Taste range from Pixar to Kubrick, but if there's a local entertainment option like a theater, opera, etc. I'd be interested in experiencing that.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed Mt. Pisco(5751 meters) in Peru. It was quite cold and difficult
Teach, Learn, Share
I am now proud to say I am a TEFL certified English teacher, and with my educational background I like to think I have a solid handle on Western literature as well. Of course there is so much more for me to learn, but this is the most immediately applicable skill I can think of to offer.
Open to learn language, customs, or anything else you would like to share. I would love to pick up another language(or more!) along the road, and have a couple of apps to help with this, but am still very much a beginner with everything non-English. Latin background helps, but I figured the best way to learn languages is cultural immersion.
I am an open book willing to share what I can, and eager to learn more about this world and the people within it. Love discussing art, philosophy, music, books, and more with open minded and kind individuals.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories from the road, and help with cleaning or various chores as needed. Honest and hopefully decent conversation. My cooking is nothing special, but if you wish I could muster something together.
