Overview
About Me
I am a budding scientist and quirky creative with a love for the outdoors. I’m happiest in the mountains or the kitchen, and love sun on my face and wind in my hair.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy meeting people and having my worldview broadened through discussion and debate. I love cooking. I love reading. I love living and seeing someone’s city through their eyes. I’m often on the move, and can only imagine Couchsurfing offers a more soulful and exciting way to experience a country than renting a hideaway hole.
Interests
Science, literature, running, hiking, yoga and diving. I love writing. I love reading. I love singing. I used to play guitar. I love the stuff that we catch ourselves doing at our happiest. Like humming. Just don’t ask me to try whistle.

Music, Movies, and Books
Jazzy, smooth, loud and intellectually exciting - if I haven’t heard it I’ll probably like it. Music - GoGo Penguin, Jamie Cullum, Joan Armatrading, Parov Stelar, Craig Armstrong, Avenged Sevenfold, Muse.
Books and authors - Shirley, Goodness and Mercy, Mrs Dalloway, Tender is the Night, Brave New World, Great Gatsby, Spud, 1984, Othello (genuinely), most crime thrillers with half a plot. Rudyard Kipling, Ian McEwan, PD James - I went big on the Larsson phase - Orwell, Fitzgerald, and obviously Austen.
I’m more into dark psych series than films, but have loved everything from Inception to Singin’ in the Rain and the Italian Job. Disclaimer - I won’t remember the actors’ names.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I’ve dissected 4200 100um-sized seeds by hand. Sadly, it doesn’t make a good story.
Teach, Learn, Share
My academic background is in genetics and biochemistry, and I therefore have an interest in statistics, science, the controversial intersection of man and nature, biology, metabolism and agriculture. I love food and currently pay my way as a freelance yacht chef / chief stewardess. I teach English, Maths, Molecular Biochem and Stats, and am trying to improve my French. I love a challenge. I can’t ride a bike (you read that right) but will gladly give it a try despite being somewhat gravitationally challenged.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cooking and food, stories, art, work, childminding, cleaning and daily tasks, a love of literature and science and hopefully (at the very least) entice a giggle.
